The Commissioning Manager is responsible to build and/or manage the Exyte Project Commissioning Team and to lead/oversee the commissioning activities of a project. The Commissioning Manager will be responsible to provide and develop a Commissioning Plan for ensuring the successful and safe turn over and completion of systems, from commissioning planning through to handover, in collaboration with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients. This role offers an opportunity to be an integral part of a dynamic team, delivering complex projects in diverse industries such as process, utilities, building services, and electrical systems.

Top 5 Main Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Expertise: Responsible for overall leadership and guidance on all commissioning, systems completion, and turnover/acceptance matters to ensure successful execution. Serves as the primary point of contact for management and the operations team to ensure alignment and integration of commissioning and start-up activities. Leads the identification and resolution of commissioning and start-up issues, ensuring timely and effective solutions
  • Integrated Commissioning Planning and Execution: Develop, coordinate, and execute an Integrated Field Commissioning Plan, working closely with the engineering and construction teams to align activities. Review and mature Commissioning Execution Plans, consolidating them into an Integrated Field Plan. Responsible for clarifying and maintaining interfaces between various systems and disciplines during commissioning, ensuring smooth handovers and system acceptance based on Client and Project needs.
  • Safe & Effective Field Completion: Develop comprehensive plans and interfaces to ensure safe and effective field completion, transitioning systems to steady-state operations. Actively participate in Project Safety and Operability reviews, providing commissioning input and guidance EHS Compliance: Working closely with EHS staff, responsible for enforcing and ensure adherence to Exyte's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies during commissioning.
  • Documentation & Procedures: Develop and maintain Commissioning Management Procedures, Reporting, Systems Acceptance Procedures, Progress Tracking, Start-up and Operating Procedures, Certification Tracking Systems, and Quality Assurance processes. Provide technical and field support to commissioning staff, ensuring the proper documentation and recording of all commissioning activities.
  • Staffing Execution & Schedule Management: Ensure that commissioning activities are adequately staffed, planned, and executed according to schedule, tracking certifications and quality objectives. Lead the preparation, maintenance, and progress monitoring of the commissioning schedule, ensuring alignment with construction timelines. Responsible for the planning and execution of system handover procedures, commissioning processes, and required documentation.

  • Interfaces and manages the coordinated Commissioning Meetings with the Owner, sub-contractors Client & Subcontractor Coordination: Manage system acceptance activities, collaborating with subcontractors and the client's operations team.

Show your expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (the required education degree may be substituted by extensive professional experience involving similar work responsibilities and/or additional training certificates in relevant domains)
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in commissioning or installation of technical systems, including process, utilities, process automation, building services, and electrical systems required
  • Experience with ensuring that commissioning processes align with Project standards and that the work is performed according to specifications required and aligned with Client needs
  • Preferred
  • A solid understanding of the various systems to be commissioned, including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, instrumentation, and process systems, is crucial.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM, NEC, IEC) is essential to ensure compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Ability to understand and manage the transition from construction to full system operation, ensuring smooth and safe startup
  • Proficiency in commissioning management software and databases (e.g., Aconex, Procore, or other document management systems) to track progress, certifications, and deliverables.
  • Experience working in the semiconductor, biopharma/life sciences, and data center industries is preferred
    Ability to lead diverse teams, manage multiple tasks, and coordinate complex project schedules
  • In-depth understanding of commissioning processes, safety regulations, and technical documentation
  • Provides technical expertise with anticipating or solving issues and delivering the system
  • Leads a successful set up of assignments to ensure correct reporting lines and resource management, to achieve completion while generating quality in the product, schedule satisfaction, and cost control.
  • Skills in handling and resolving conflicts between stakeholders, including subcontractors, clients, and internal teams, while maintaining positive working relationships
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate commissioning requirements, plans, and progress to all stakeholders (clients, team members, subcontractors)
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports, tracking commissioning progress, system acceptance, punch lists, and other critical project documents.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other software tools to manage documentation and presentations
  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure thorough inspection, testing, and quality control of systems being commissioned
  • Driving company culture that underpins and maintains safe and secure working conditions and enforces the highest standard of safe, healthy, and secure work practic
  • Demonstrated experience in commissioning, operation, maintenance in the field of construction environments.
  • Commissioning management in complex projects with multi-national collaboration, managing risks and costs, and reporting on progress to manage projects or initiatives within the boundaries of human, system performance, quality and financial constraints.
