Description
We are seeking a dynamic and flexible individual for a supervisory role that will oversee both the Communicable Disease and Vaccine Preventable Disease programs. Initially, the Supervisor will lead the Communicable Disease program, with the potential to transition to the Vaccine Preventable Disease program based on evolving business needs. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced public health environment.
Work is performed under limited management and requires independent judgment and discretion. The Manager or designee sets the overall objectives and resources available. The incumbent develops the specific tasks necessary to complete the work within the timelines given, and is responsible for the work performed, prepares, and carries out the work plans, resolves most conflicts that may arise, coordinates work with others and uses independent judgment concerning appropriate methods and procedures. Incumbent will keep the Director regularly informed of progress, potentially controversial matters, and issues with far reaching implications. Work is reviewed in terms of feasibility, compatibility with other work and effectiveness of results.

Work is performed in a variety of settings, such as office or community environments utilizing standard office and audio-visual equipment including personal computer and related software. Incumbent may have the ability to telecommute and would be approved by department leadership. Travel is required to locations both in and out of the County, particularly throughout the five counties of Region 1 and King County.

- Provides strategic leadership and oversees the coordination of staff in developing and managing.
- Provide instruction and training for assigned staff including quality, quantity and consistency of work and to ensure uniformity among field staff in the application of rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Represent the department in meetings and projects as assigned.
- Initiate the development of program policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Monitor program goals and objectives; assure services are delivered in an efficient, cost-effective, and productive manner.
- Ensure consolidated contract requirements are met and milestones are completed
- Prepare reports and other documents as needed; complete and/or review paperwork such as project reports.

- Assess, identify, plan, develop, implement and evaluate activities to improve communicable disease rates and to address disease control issues
- Promote the reporting of notifiable conditions with health care providers, laboratories, and veterinarians
- Participate on community-based coalitions and collaborations to address communicable disease issues
- Coordinate and develop disease control activities and updates that promote education and knowledge for health care providers
- Serve as a liaison to and resource for providers; provide consultative and technical assistance on notifiable conditions
- Assist Communicable Disease Surveillance and Response staff to find vaccine resources for disease prophylaxis
- Coordinate and oversee the work of clinical and program support staff including the distribution of workload
- Provide technical expertise, coaching, and correction on tasks specific to vaccine - related projects, initiatives, and activities.
- Plan and implement the delivery of vaccines to populations of focus.
- Monitor and evaluate vaccine activities and assure vaccine accountability. Develop reporting protocols and ensure the preparation of comprehensive reports according to the established protocols
- Ensure that protocols, policies, and evaluation actions are current and implemented to track and monitor vaccine purchased by the Health Department and needed to ensure appropriate immunization coverage of various populations.
Associated Duties:
- Represents management during labor negotiations.

Minimum Qualifications
Successful Incumbents for this Position will have the:
- Knowledge of the theories, principles, techniques, and practices of public health and population-based services.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision including budget and contract monitoring, planning, program analysis, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of quality improvement processes.
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and current developments related to emergency preparedness and response.
- Knowledge of public health, immunizations, customer service, planning, and evaluation.
- Skilled in utilized computer programs and a variety of software including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and other applications related to the area of assignment.
- Skilled in effectively organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating work assignments.
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

The County's contribution toward the premium for an employee in a regular part-time appointment will be pro-rated in an amount equal to the F.T.E. percentage the employee is assigned.
