About the role:
As part of the Corporate Services Division, the Communications & PR Analyst is responsible for delivering internal and external communications for the entire department. This diverse and dynamic role allows you to engage in exciting and impactful work - whether it's building and maintaining highways, schools, airports, and bridges, reducing our carbon footprint, or expanding fibre networks. One day, you may coordinate a response to a rockslide; the next, brief media on a major construction project or organize a public open house. This role offers variety and the chance to make a real difference in Yukon communities.
What we do:
The Communications team within the Corporate Services Division supports the Department of Highways and Public Works by communicating government priorities and providing expertise in planning, communications, finance, procurement, supply services, and First Nations relations.
Our team works on critical infrastructure projects, manages Yukon's ferries, and promotes sustainability. There's never a dull moment and we pride ourselves on making a positive contribution to the development of the territory.

- Post-secondary coursework in communications, journalism, public relations or related discipline;
- Experience in organizing and planning public events, media briefings, and/or community outreach activities;
- Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

- Strong problem-solving skills with a solutions-oriented approach;
- Ability to generate creative ideas and solutions in a fast-paced environment;
- Experience working within a government setting;
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and events simultaneously;
- A proactive and positive attitude with the ability to work well independently and collaboratively within a team;
- Experience with proactive media relations and working with journalists
- Ability to work with tight deadlines and/or on multiple projects;
- Ability to work with image editing/manipulation software (e.g. Lightroom, Photoshop, Canva).
- Strong writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and engaging content for diverse audiences;

- Class 5 driver's license or equivalent
