SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
The Communications Coordinator utilizes their strong creativity and writing, collaboration, and organization skills to effectively implement district and school communication strategies and plans related to district programs and key priorities, voter-approved bond and levy projects, district facilities and technology programs. This position coordinates the district's social media and provides clear, reliable, and timely communications to staff, families, students, community, and other internal and external stakeholders. The communications coordinator works under the supervision of the communications manager to ensure smooth implementation of major projects and communication plans in alignment with board goals and strategic district priorities.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in office environment. Some travel to and between school sites is necessary. Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms and to listen carefully and focus while filtering out normal office noise. Ability to see, hear, speak, walk, sit, stand, crouch, and reach. Moderate lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds. Reaching overhead and horizontally. Dexterity of fingers and hands to operate equipment and a computer keyboard. Teamwork and high productivity requirements create frequent extra hour days, attendance at meetings before and after work, and weekend work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for representing the district in a positive light and supporting and promoting district initiatives and programs.
- Coordinate specific communications plans, monitor multiple communication channels and develop content for district projects or programs relating to district's strategic priorities.
- Coordinate the district's social media platforms, which includes creating and scheduling content, monitoring, tracking data and reporting.
- Write, edit and implement communications for various communication channels, including electronic, print, social media, web and video.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders for the purpose of collaboration and furthering the initiatives of the district.
- Provide media support at district and school events and ensure compliance with privacy laws when involving students in district and media coverage.
- Assist with coordinating brand and content consistency across content departments and schools.
- Assist in the development of an annual editorial and social media calendars for communications. Support continuous improvement by collecting the appropriate metrics, insights and best practices data.
- Provide support to administrators and support staff in the area of effective use of communication tools for the purpose of increasing efficiency, improving communication and greater collaboration
- Coordinates and monitors a wide variety of projects, events, functions and/or program components for the purpose of completing activities and/or delivering services in a timely fashion.
- Maintains a wide variety of manual and electronic documents files and records for the purpose of providing up-to-date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements
- Monitors a wide variety of activities on behalf of community relations manager for the purpose of achieving goals and meeting target dates in compliance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops, and/or trainings for the purpose of providing or receiving information, recording minutes, and supporting the needs of the attendees.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Researches a variety of topics (e.g. current practices, policies, education codes, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or recommendations that address a variety of administrative requirements
- Responds to a wide variety of inquiries from internal and external parties (e.g. staff, parents, students. public agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, facilitating communication among parties and/or providing direction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- BS/BA degree in communications, English, journalism, or related field and two years of experience in one or more of the communication related fields, or
- AA degree in a related field and four years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the communication fields.

- Previous experience in digital marketing and social media.
