Goals: Arlington Community Schools is seeking an enthusiastic storyteller and media producer to join our communications team. The Communications Media Specialist will play a key role in celebrating and promoting the successes of our students, educators, parents and school community through engaging video production, photography and written storytelling.
This position requires a self-starter with a strong background in video production - from concept to completion - who's passionate about local, community-driven stories and public education in Tennessee. The Communications Media Specialist maintains a forty-hour (40) workweek and works additional hours, which can include evenings and weekends, as required to carry out all the duties and responsibilities of the position. This is a twelve (12) month position.

- 3 - 5 original video samples fully conceptualized, filmed, edited and produced solely by the applicant. Submissions may not include work that was filmed or edited by a third-party company or team.

Minimum Qualifications and Training:
- Bachelor's degree in mass communications, journalism, public relations or related field required
- Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in mass communications, journalism, public relations or a related field required
- Demonstrated experience in video production, including filming, editing and publishing original content
- Mastery of Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop and/or Final Cut Pro
- Portfolio of work is required at the time of application (details below)

Performance Responsibilities:
- Video Production & Storytelling:
- Conceptualize, film, edit and produce compelling short and long-form videos for social media, web, internal and external communications,
- Conduct interviews with students, staff and community members, o maintain quality and consistency across platforms
- Content Creation:
- Capture high-quality photos and video footage; create supporting graphics and written content,
- Contribute to district newsletters, websites, presentations and campaigns
- Event & On-Call Coverage:
- Provide media coverage at events, which can include evenings and weekends
- Support the Chief of Communications & Planning in managing content and coverage calendars
- Collaboration & Mentorship:
- Support the Chief of Communications & Planning with the ACS Communications Student Internship program,
- collaborate with school staff and principals to identify and produce stories,
- maintain and build relationships with coaches and club/organization sponsors to identify communication needs
- Brand Promotion:
- Uphold and grow the ACS brand through digital content,
- help manage archives and ensure media consent compliance
- Assist the Chief of Communications & Planning in identifying and developing internal and external communication strategies and techniques
- Assist the Chief of Communications & Planning in managing and updating the district and individual school websites, in conjunction with school-level webmasters
- Assist the communications department with a variety of events such as community outreach events, student and staff recruitment events, cuttings, school tours, etc.
- Performs other duties as needed or requested by the Superintendent or Chief of Communications & Planning
