Summary
The Special Education Compliance Manager is responsible for improving the compliance and programmatic outcomes of all K-12 Special Education Programs in Michigan. The Special Education Compliance Manager serves as a liaison between Global Psychological and the schools we service regarding special education compliance. The Special Education Compliance Manager works directly with administrators, special education teachers, general education teachers, special education coordinators, and support staff to enhance instructional practices, increase student access to the general education curriculum, analyze school data/trends, and ensure federal, state, and local compliance.

The Special Education Compliance Manager is responsible for improving the compliance and programmatic outcomes of all K-12 Special Education Programs in Michigan. The Special Education Compliance Manager serves as a liaison between Global Psychological and the schools we service regarding special education compliance. The Special Education Compliance Manager works directly with administrators, special education teachers, general education teachers, special education coordinators, and support staff to enhance instructional practices, increase student access to the general education curriculum, analyze school data/trends, and ensure federal, state, and local compliance.
Case Manager Development and Management
- Responsible for the management and professional development of all Coordinators so that each school meets their expected special education goals for internal strategic plans and external goals including charter renewal, and any goals identified by state or local agencies.
- Develop coordinators to meet local, state, and federal guidelines, monitor these practices, and maintain all records to certify compliance.
- Inform, advise, and follow up with staff on all relevant rules and guidelines to ensure compliance with State, federal, and local regulations, and procedures for students with disabilities.
- Create the agendas, presentations, and collateral for monthly case manager/coordinator meetings, in conjunction with other members of the organizational team.
- Assist in the development of REEDs/domains, METs/eligibility, Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and additional special education plans.
Data Management and Reporting
- Conduct routine department audits and data analysis of department compliance.
- Monitor, review, and report special education compliance by maintaining a compliance dashboard for each school.
- Improve practices and student outcomes by analyzing data to strengthen LRE, data collection, progress monitoring of goals, implementation of interventions, and co-teaching strategies, and work collaboratively with members of the organizational leadership team to determine compliance-related professional development and training needs.
- Establish a consistent cadence to review and analyze Special Education data to determine and address trends to support special education programs, students with a disability, parents, and staff, and the implementation of updated written processes, procedures, and training.
- Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to monitor special education compliance, providing these reports to the School District and Global Psychological leadership as requested.
- Review special education files and documents from differing eligibility categories, identify any errors, and make recommendations to ensure all services are documented properly, designed to meet the needs of the student, and are carried out with fidelity.
- Address the areas of non-compliance and identify strategies and procedures for District-wide compliance.
- Assist in compliance reporting and audit preparation. Complete any necessary documentation for state and local agencies as it relates to compliance and audits.
Building and Maintaining Effective Relationships
- Provide recommendations for District and departmental processes and procedures as they relate to compliance.
- Work directly with the Coordinators, Special Education Teachers, and Building Administrators to ensure all buildings maintain 100% compliance with federal and state special education laws.
- Assist with providing compliance training and direct coaching to school-based educators in need.
- Facilitate and conduct training (individual, small group, and/or district-wide) to staff as a result of non-compliant practices that were identified through audits, observations, IEP reviews, etc.
- Assist building-level administrators and staff with the implementation of District policies, procedures, and programs.
- Assist in implementing special education department strategic plan goals and initiatives to meet compliance outcomes.
- Guide the development and implementation of short-range and long-range plans for achieving program goals and objectives in alignment with the school and district.

Education and Certification
- Minimum of Master's degree in education, curriculum and instruction or related field.
- Possess current Michigan teaching certificate (or equivalent) with a special education endorsement.
- School administrator or Central Office Certification preferred.
- At least five successful years of special education experience.
