Job Description
PACO Group, Inc. (PACO) is seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time Inspector for Cleaning and Sealing Exterior Masonry of the Service Building associated with the Throgs Neck Bridge (TNB), to join our team on a critical project for the MTA. This project involves the exterior cleaning and sealing of masonry for the service building located adjacent to the Throgs Neck Bridge, ensuring compliance with MTA standards and enhancing the safety and reliability of our transportation infrastructure.
Responsibilities
The Inspector shall:
Oversee the contractor's mobilization and start-up of construction activities.
Review the contractor's baseline schedule and monthly schedule updates, logic, sequence, timelines, cost, and man-hours.
Provide comments on change orders, delay or stop orders, and revised schedules.
Provide comments, identify scheduling impacts, and make recommendations to mitigate delays.
Review and approve detailed cost breakdowns.
Verify all work completed, including durations, start-finish times, and timely material delivery
Establish and implement procedures for communication and coordination between MTA C&D and the third-party contractor throughout the duration of the Project.
Oversee and inspect the contractor's and subcontractors' work and prepare and maintain Daily Inspection Reports.
Coordinate with the contractor and report on any possible work conflicts with third-party contractor activities.
Coordinate construction activities with other construction project(s) occurring at the site with appropriate project representatives.
Monitor and maintain documents, videos, and photographic materials.
Track, verify, and approve all shop drawings, as-built drawings, manuals, warranties, deliverables, and document submittals specified in the construction contract(s).
Maintain current copies of all contract drawings, specifications and operating manuals, shop drawings, catalog cuts, as-builts drawings, samples, materials, and equipment at the Project site.
Maintain a contract plans and annotated specifications to identify change orders and as-built conditions.
Obtain and review as-built drawings and operating manuals and deliver required documents to the appropriate before issuing the certificate of substantial completion.
Maintain a log of all non-conforming items and deficiencies and ensure corrective actions taken.
Resolve Requests for Information in a timely manner.
Manage the construction change order process:
o Prepare independent change order estimates.
o Assist with the development of scopes of work.
o Maintain change order logs.
o Participate in negotiations with the MTA C&D and the Contractor and maintain minutes of the negotiations record.
o Determine the effects of a change order on the Project schedule and Scope of Work.
o Coordinate and maintain supplementary drawings necessary for the required modifications.
o Ensure timely resolution of the field problems uncovered during construction.
Coordinate material testing, including off-site testing performed by subcontractors as required.
Proactively identify potential claim-related issues and escalate to the appropriate persons and record any claims or delays along with the associated costs and causes.
Continuously monitor the contractor's quality, operations, safety, and security programs. Coordinate with MTA C&D Project management personnel in all matters involving safety, operation, and security.
Prepare and submit all accident and injury reports to management personnel.
Perform pre-final inspections and final inspections and develop punch-list and arrange with the appropriate MTA agency to perform its own final inspections.
Assist in providing data for obtaining substantial completion and closeout documentation.
Coordinate construction work with TNB facility Operations and TNB Engineering, as needed.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of five (5) years' experience in relevant construction inspection.
National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies Level III Certification which must be maintained for the duration of the Task Order.
Strong verbal, written, project coordination and negotiating skills.
Demonstrated knowledge in various types of civil engineering systems operations including checking construction tasks described in the project which are covered under civil engineering disciplines.
Significant experience applying civil engineering specifications and standards.
Demonstrated knowledge of industry safety standards (i.e. OSHA).
Proficient with the Microsoft products such as Office, Excel, Access, Asite, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
H. Minimum of OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Training.
