Summary Objective

The Construction Manager directs the overall management of construction projects, overseeing the projects from development to completion.

Required Functions:
  • Manages the planning, materials, building, and budget of a construction projects.
  • Selects appropriate construction methods and strategies; and schedules and coordinates construction processes so that projects meet design specifications.
  • Ensures all of aspects of construction projects (safety, scope, schedule, budget, quality) are met.
  • Collaborates with engineers, designers, project managers and production management on construction related issues.
  • Ensures required licenses and permits are obtained, confers with city or county inspectors, and ensures compliance of legal requirements, company regulations, and building and safety codes and guidelines.
  • Works with Procurement to choose appropriate materials and plan the best way to get materials to the building sites.
  • Respond to work delays, other problems, and emergencies.
  • Reports on construction progress to the Project Manager and to clients.
  • Participate in ISO 9001 and other audits.


Desired Qualifications:
  • Ability to support Project Controls Director in long range planning for resources.
  • Ability to provide technical input to Project Controls Director for construction estimates.
  • Has extensive experience in field oversight of construction contractors.
  • Has both Union and Non Union construction management/oversight.
  • Ability to obtain various construction state licenses.
  • Advanced competency level in either of the following construction disciplines: Mechanical/Electrical/Civil

Work Environment

This job generally operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at fabrication shops and job sites.

Job safety needs to be considered the top priority at all times.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.

Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. First shift days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Some projects may require out-of-state, out-of-country and overnight travel up to 75%

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering or management related discipline; and
  • A minimum of 5 - 10 years of experience in project and / or construction management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.


Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's degree in construction, engineering or management related discipline; and
  • 5 years' experience in the power, oil & gas, data center and / or district energy industries; and
  • Certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent.


Work Authorization

Must be authorized to work in USA.
