EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in construction or a related area: construction management, engineering, architecture and/or 2-4 years of construction experience in an operational role preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Intermediate: Can operate office machines such as the copier, fax, scanner, phone, and calculator. Has good understanding of MS Office skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with a minimum of one year of experience with these programs. Can accurately record time worked in the correct department using the Company time keeping system. Is very familiar with the internet and can navigate the internet. Types by touch.
CERTIFICATIONS and/or LICENSES: Must possess a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record.
SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: Responsible for supervising 10 or more subordinate supervisors to whom up to 20 employees report, and also for supervising up to 10 other employees.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret in English; common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. SUMMARY: The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Project Manager with coordination, schedule, design, and construction of simultaneous projects in accordance to project design plans and specification, budgets, local, state, and federal code agencies, to assure the developer/owner interests and requirements are met.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include but not limited to:
- Develop construction schedules, budgets, and material quantities.
- Participate in subcontractor negotiations.
- Perform evaluation of project documents for construction feasibility
- Review project documents for compliance to local, state, and federal codes; make sure that current engineering principles, practices, design, and technical standards are met.
- Coordinate the design drawings between the structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, civil, architectural, and aquatics engineering plans from design development to project completion.
- Review shop drawings & submittals for constructability feasibility and compliance with project documents.
- Facilitate the Request for Information process with the construction team, design team, and subcontractors.
- Responsible for quality control and quality assurance with subcontractors and independent testing agencies.
- Assist Project Managers with tracking and preparing subcontractor change orders.
- Responsible for all project document control duties including maintaining current drawings sets, distributing and posting design change documents, maintaining as-built drawings, and filing inspection and test reports.
- Coordinate punch-list process.
- Coordinate project closeout activities.
- Manage surveying for building construction.
- Responsible for construction dewatering permit monitoring and stormwater management plan.
- Participate in all aspects of project safety management including reviewing project safety plan, conduct weekly site safety inspections, audit subcontractor safety compliance, and maintain inventory of personal protective equipment and site safety supplies.
- Manage and coordinate construction labor crews.
- Supervise and coordinate subcontractors and general site activities.
- Select and procure materials.
- Assist with all aspects of construction.
- Complete administrative duties including but not limited to writing job descriptions, developing training manuals, staffing schedules, and completing human resource paperwork.
- Hold regularly scheduled staff meetings to communicate pertinent information to staff regarding department, company, and safety issues.
- Set example for staff on how to create, maintain and evolve a high level of customer service to our guests, vendors, owners, and employees for Construction. Be open to, and encourage suggestions for improvement.
- Be alert to tasks that need to be done to fulfill this role in the organization and without being asked, takes initiative to see that they get done.
