Fives Group is seeking a Construction Project Manager in the Columbus, OH area. This is a full-time direct hire position. The Construction Project Manager will be directly responsible for the construction planning and install of industrial equipment.

Summary:
The main function of the Construction PM is to plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Project size can range from $5M-30M+ in value often exceeding 250,000 square feet and 45-50 foot heights.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Thorough informal communication and regular meetings, ensure of the compliance of their project with schedule and budget.
  • Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Design rigging tool for special installation conditions. Will utilize AutoCAD, Revit, or other drafting software to generate 2D/3D drawings for fixtures and site logistics.
  • Manage the heavy equipment and rigging planning process. This includes determining and planning the rigging requirements for large equipment installs including cranes, forklifts, and custom lifting devices. In addition; you will coordinate the rental and scheduling of this equipment.
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget. Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
  • Manage the install of new equipment which includes managing installation supervisors while also developing technical drawings that define installation processes.
  • Review project schedules to ensure of compliance and feasibility.
  • Monitor progress, foresee potential problems, and when required, coordinate corrective actions with parties involved.
  • Monitor regularly purchasing activities and meet with personnel to ensure proper operation
  • Review and requisitions to ensure compliance with company standards and policies
  • Assist or negotiate directly with suppliers and vendors for high value and/or critical contracts.
  • Coordination of resources for Installation and Commissioning.
  • Monitor progress and management of final stages to ensure proper closure of projects.
  • This role requires frequent travel to job and customer sites
Education/Experience:
  • Combined 3+ years of construction project management and/or comparable management experience along with a verifiable record of results in both disciplines.
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Construction Management, related field. Equivalent experience will also be taken into consideration.
  • Experience leading large industrial construction projects of $20M+.
  • 2+ years with heavy industrial construction, rigging, or equipment installation.
  • Ability to do cost estimation and budget control for large scale construction projects.
  • Hands on experience renting and scheduling for heavy equipment (forklifts, cranes, rigging tools, etc.).
  • Microsoft Project or Primavera exposure would be helpful.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and work with people to overcome challenges.
  • Professional interpersonal skills (oral & written communication and persuasion skills) to build internal and external relationships. Actively listens, probes and identifies concerns. Understands our core customer's business and speaks their language; Develops credibility, loyalty, trust and commitment.
