Construction Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee capital projects in San Jose, CA.

This role requires expertise in construction management, safety, and quality for retrofit and expansion projects, including office fit-outs, clean room installations, and chemical production equipment installations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing multi-million-dollar projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining high-quality standards.

On-site presence is required.

Responsibilities:

Project & Construction Management

• Oversee construction sites, general contractors, and workers to ensure project completion with zero safety incidents.
• Ensure all construction activities comply with corporate safety protocols and industry regulations.
• Coordinate day-to-day construction activities for contractor efficiency.
• Monitor adherence to project specifications, identifying and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Manage construction contracting from bidding to closeout, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
• Handle contractor change orders, review justifications, estimate costs, and negotiate terms.
• Track and review project schedules, providing updates on progress, costs, and potential changes.

Stakeholder Coordination & Compliance

• Organize project updates, including safety and quality meetings as needed.
• Provide regular progress reports to clients and upper management, addressing concerns and required changes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless coordination.
• Manage project permitting efforts, coordinating inspections and approvals with the relevant authorities.

Quality & Safety Assurance

• Conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with customer-specific quality standards.
• Work closely with safety and quality managers to resolve safety and compliance concerns.
• Support project onboarding processes for contractors and their teams.
• Ensure proper documentation and reporting of accident investigations when necessary.

Leadership & Training

• Mentor and guide team members, fostering professional growth.
• Implement and maintain best practices for construction safety, scheduling, and risk mitigation.

Qualifications:

Required Skills & Experience:

• 10+ years of experience as a Construction Manager in commercial building construction, clean room construction, and chemical production processes.
• Strong understanding of construction technology, safety, and quality control.
• Experience in project budgeting, forecasting, and schedule management.
• Ability to perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
• Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

Education & Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• OSHA 30 certification (minimum).
• First Aid & CPR certification.
• Knowledge of ASME, ACI, Building Codes, and Owner Standards.
