Description:

Lasko Products, LLC is a leading U.S. manufacturer of portable heaters and fans. We are committed to providing our customers with safe and reliable products. We are seeking a talented and dedicated Consumer Product Safety Engineer to join our team. The Consumer Product Safety Engineer will be responsible for investigating product safety incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and providing technical support for litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering and preferably experience in the consumer product safety industry.

This position reports to the General Counsel of Lasko.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct site inspections to gather evidence and identify origin and cause of alleged product-related fires
  • Perform root cause analyses of alleged product failures to determine the underlying causes and identify corrective actions
  • Create and maintain claim history files and make recommendations regarding claim resolution to the General Counsel based on product investigations
  • Inspect returned products to assess safety risks and respond to consumer claims
  • Examine artifacts from product incidents to gather evidence and support investigations
  • Interact with outside experts and counsel to provide technical support for claims and litigation
  • Investigate consumer warranty claims and product claims in coordination with legal support staff
  • Monitor regulatory developments as they may apply to Lasko products and participate in industry association product regulatory and safety groups
  • Review artwork and instruction manuals for accuracy, regulatory compliance, and consumer ease-of-use and safety.
  • Help to build safety into products by participating in DFMEA analysis and product safety reviews.
  • Support the company's product safety recall process
  • Support discovery efforts in litigation as requested by the General Counsel

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • 4-6 years of experience in the consumer product safety industry
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and product safety standards
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel regularly

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Electrical consumer product experience
  • Experience with fire investigation techniques and methodologies
  • Certification in fire investigation (e.g., CFI, CFII). The company will pay for such certification in the employee's first year of employment, if not certified
  • Knowledge of consumer product safety regulations (e.g., CPSC, UL)
  • Interest in product liability law and incident investigation

Geographic Reach

Based in the greater Philadelphia, PA area, Lasko Products operates in locations throughout the US and Canada.
