About the job
Since launching several years ago, our team has grown rapidly. We find ourselves in an exciting position to further deepen our partnerships within the government contracting space, to continue to attract and retain amazing teammates, and to scale our capacity to make an even bigger difference in the world.
Currently, our company is organized into three main groups: Executive Office (sets and operationalizes the strategic direction of the company), Human Services (focused on clients such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), and Defense Services (focused on clients such as the U.S. Air Force).
As Skylight's Content Design Manager, you'll report directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and manage the company's content portfolio, encompassing strategy, planning, creation, optimization, distribution, governance, performance measurement, and maintenance. This position will play a critical role in driving Skylight's business growth and ensuring operational excellence.

What you'll do
- Develop and implement content strategies that align with Skylight's business objectives and enhance the experience of various user groups, including employees
- Conduct content audits and gap analyses to identify areas for improvement and new content opportunities
- Create and maintain content calendars to ensure timely delivery of high-quality content
- Create or oversee the creation of user-centered content, including case studies, web pages, microcopy, practitioner guides, standard operating procedures, and more
- Collaborate with Skylight's growth team and functional experts (e.g., product managers, product designers, software engineers) to develop compelling, persuasive, and high-quality content for government proposals
- Establish and maintain content governance frameworks to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance across all content produced
- Act as the primary point of contact for content-related queries and provide guidance on content best practices
- Use data-driven insights to measure the effectiveness of content and make informed decisions
- Conduct user research and usability testing to gather feedback and iterate on content designs
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in content design
- Manage content-related projects from conception to completion, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders as necessary
Minimum qualifications
- Proven experience in managing a large-scale portfolio of content
- Superior writing, editing, and communication skills
- Proficiency in technical writing
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and multi-task
- Self-directed, requiring minimal supervision
- Detail-oriented with a passion for quality
- Thoughtful, adaptive, and positive mindset
- Highly collaborative, interpersonal style of working
- Possess or able to acquire basic tech skills, such as editing website content directly using markup languages (e.g., HTML)
- Passionate about creating better public outcomes through great government services
- A mindset and work approach that aligns with our core values
- Ability to travel for work from time to time
- Prior experience supporting the development of content for government proposals
- Prior experience working in a professional services business environment
- Expertise in search engine optimization
- Prior experience working in the civic tech space
- Experience working in a remote-team environment

- All work must be conducted within the U.S., excluding U.S. territories. Some federal contracts require U.S. citizenship to be eligible for employment.
- You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future without sponsorship.
- As a government contractor, you may be required to obtain a public trust or security clearance
- You may be required to complete a company background check successfully.
- Some of our available roles are on federal contracts that require a degree or additional years of experience as a substitute.
