Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for analyzing business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement across a complex manufacturing facility, and developing and implementing improvement initiatives using continuous improvement tools and techniques.This hands-on role works closely with Managers, Shift Supervisors, production employees, and other team members to reduce waste, increase productivity, and improve profitability within the manufacturing operation.
You will
Utilize continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) and industrial engineering tools/techniques to analyze existing processes, facilities, systems, etc. and identify areas for improvement in efficiencies, costs, and quality
Collaborate and align with management to establish and prioritize project objectives.
Assemble and lead cross-functional teams to successfully navigate the change process.
Coordinate all necessary activities to implement approved changes.
Lead project management for larger initiatives, focusing on effective scheduling, comprehensive project planning, and proactive risk management.
Prepare documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and training materials, to facilitate seamless transitions resulting from process improvements.
Develop and deliver training sessions to educate individuals impacted by implemented changes.
Develop key performance measurements and targets to objectively assess the success of implemented improvements.
Prepare reports and presentations to communicate the outcomes of improvement activities.
Generate and share ad hoc reporting, KPIs, and other resources to ensure the ongoing sustainability of improvements.
When your expertise drives us.
Bachelors degree in industrial engineering or similar field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a technically oriented manufacturing environment.
Industry experience in flexographic printing or converting or film extrusion is required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams etc.).
Strong understanding of and previous experience with CI tools and techniques.
Project Management training/experience.
Demonstrated skills in leadership, coaching, and team building within a manufacturing organization.
Thorough understanding of the inter-relationship between manufacturing, engineering, materials, quality and purchasing with exposure in all of these areas.
Demonstrated safety leadership capabilities, knowledge, and experience.
Ability to identify cost-saving opportunities in production management, inventory management, machine productivity, and labour cost reduction.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple priorities.
Ability to work well with customers, suppliers, and employees at every level of the organization.
