Magnetic Component Engineering ("MCE"), a subsidiary of Dexter Magnetic Technologies ("Dexter"), manufactures permanent magnets and magnetic assemblies made to demanding customer specification in the aerospace / defense, semiconductor equipment, medical, and industrial end markets. MCE is based in Torrance, CA and operates one 48,000 square foot facility with 85 employees.

Basic Purpose and Objective of the Position
The Continuous Improvement Leader will take part in a business and cultural evolution towards a new 'way of working'. This role will be responsible for the execution of tactical and cultural transformation activities to help drive a Continuous Improvement transformation of all operational and business activities within MCE and will report to the MCE Site Leader with a dotted line report to the VP of Continuous Improvement.
The Leader will support the development of the Magnetics Holdings lean management operating system, ensuring it is embraced by all functions and that employees, partners, processes, policies, and technology are aligned as needed to ensure success. The role will help to develop a culture focused on Lean Enterprise/Six Sigma and will demonstrate the business value in terms of improved products and services to our customers and a better employee experience.
Major Responsibilities
Lean/Continuous Improvement Specific (primary):
Six Sigma Specific (secondary):
Design of Experiments Process Capability (Cpk, Ppk) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) Design for Manufacturability/Assembly DFMEA, PFMEA, MSA and other PPAP type requirements
Salary Range: $110,000-$120,000 depending on experience

Major Responsibilities
- Employ lean manufacturing and six sigma techniques and help champion the continuous improvement (CI) culture.
- Facilitate implementation of CI best practices across the plant and office functional areas.
- Execute CI projects and Kaizen Events identified by the VP of Continuous Improvement.
- Maintain, improve, and manage the assessment process for the Visual Management Tier Board Meetings, including work plan and visual scheduling systems.
- Assist in identifying gaps and forming strategic plans to address.
- Analyze data and/or reports to find opportunities within KPI reporting structure.
- Embrace different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds and practice consensus decision making.
- Communicate Lean CI vision and implement strategy.
- Ensure using standardized CI approaches developed by Dexter but to improve on them in conjunction with Dexter
Lean/Continuous Improvement Specific (primary):
- Train and lead employees in projects on the Fundamentals of Lean including, but not limited to Value Stream Mapping, 8 Wastes, 5S, work cells, time studies, day in the life of (DiLo) studies, standards development, Kanban, SMED, Visual management and Visual factory.
- Train employees on PDCA, problem solving skills, and root cause analysis. Promote the use of problem-solving tools within the plant and office functional areas and become a subject matter expert.
- Maintain and improve and participate in the GEMBA walk process and drive CI culture across plant and office functional areas.
- Establish standardized work and audit (i.e., Kamishibai) systems for sustainability.
Six Sigma Specific (secondary):
- Deployment of Six Sigma Processes to Improve Product/Process Design, along with other CI personnel, including:

Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in technical or business-related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience and working towards bachelor's degree.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, or equivalent, from a reputable organization along with sound, demonstrable knowledge and experience.
- Operations/production experience with demonstrated process improvement experience.
- Experience leading Kaizens and deploying lean tools and principles a plus.
- Experience in establishing and executing project roadmaps to deliver baseline results with functional leaders.
