JOB TITLE: Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager
LOCATION: Accumold Office
REPORTS TO: Director of Quality
FLSA: Exempt
JOB SUMMARY: Develops and implements the continuous improvement strategy for Accumold. This position promotes and supports lean activities and the development of a lean culture by leading, defining, and developing strategic activities for continuous improvement initiatives while following and helping established standards within the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish and monitor company goals, which are aligned with business strategies and objectives. Think creatively and strategically, while taking a proactive and aggressive goal setting approach to assist in developing a lean culture. Ensure Accumold is properly serving its internal and external customers and meeting defined expectations, while providing informative and professional assistance. Gain understanding of customer's perspective and produce mutually acceptable results leading to improved quality for the customer and efficiency in the process. Lead, facilitate, and/or participate in CI activities. Develop and track metrics related to improvement activities. Develop long-term and short-term improvement strategies for Accumold in support of the strategic plan and future business growth including new lines of service. Complete event evaluations, follow up on event item completion, and provide sustainment audit results. Promote lean activities in support of culture change and plan, prepare, lead, execute SCRUM/Kaizen events utilizing Lean methodologies. Promote standardized processes, improved workflow, waste elimination and support managing for daily improvement activities. Develop or assist in the development of materials, tools, and training in support of lean activities or SCRUM/kaizen related issues. Direct/Indirect manage team members to facilitate continuous improvement activities in all manufacturing and business aspects of Accumold. Positively influence others without formal authority. Build and cultivate positive relationships at all levels in the organization. Effectively negotiate and discuss areas of concern. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education/Experience. Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering. Requires 7 years of experience in manufacturing with 5 years of experience in lean enterprise and at least 3 years of leadership and managing experience. Knowledge of Toyota Production System, financial tools, scientific method, and business software preferred. Computer Skills. Ability to operate office communication equipment. Proven accuracy in keyboarding skills to enter data correctly and efficiently. Ability to create presentations for customers, suppliers, Board of Directors and employees. Language Skills. Proven reading and written communication skills required with the ability to comprehend and interpret instructions and standards from manuals or other materials. Effective correspondence skills with professionals required. Ability to effectively present information or training to employees, in one-on-one and small group situations. Mathematical Skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios and percent. Reasoning Ability. Ability to interpret standards or guidelines and apply to actual variables required. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Other Skills and Abilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast paced and rapidly changing work environment. Supervisory Responsibilities. None. Physical Demands. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is frequently required to sit and stand. Frequent movement throughout the facility is required. Dexterity to perform computer operations and close vision acuity necessary. May be required to move or transport up to 55 lbs. Work Environment. The duties of this job are executed in a climate-controlled environment with few temperature or humidity extremes. Noise levels will vary from very low to moderate depending on the location that the work is performed within the office, production area or tool room.
