General Summary:

The CI/Process Specialist primary responsibility is to guide process improvement projects which improve outcomes and reduce cost and complexity across the organization. This position provides business/PI expertise and analytic support to high-priority quality and safety initiatives throughout the institution. The incumbent will define deliverables, structure project work-plans and provide leadership with recommendations to solve the most complex problems. This position will be responsible for providing project management expertise to assigned initiatives including the development of a defined project plan. Under the oversight of the Senior Director of Quality, Safety and Continuous Improvement and in collaboration with the Manager of CI Lean Methodologies and Support, this position is responsible for coordinating educational efforts and leading hospital employees and physicians through performance improvement initiatives associated with process enhancements. The CI /Process Specialist will be the content expert in data management tools and preferences for the subject matter under review. This individual will prepare diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations, and reports for the study of system/process opportunities. Incumbent will facilitate problem identification, investigation, identification of desired state, measurement processes and development of action plans. Reliable methods will be identified where appropriate. Standard methodologies for performance improvement will be used and taught by this individual. The CI/Process Specialist facilitates performance improvement teams in collaboration with multiple clinical team leaders and senior administrators. This individual will interact with all levels of the Bayhealth Organization in concert with departmental management in a collegial spirit. This position will also have the responsibility for data mining which will include individual responsibility for the utilization of various data sources throughout the organization. This position requires an individual with a work-related experience in process improvement, project management and proven ability to deliver significant business results. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Responsibilities:

1. Provides centralized standardized approach of PI and Lean Methodologies under the direction of the Senior Director of Quality, Safety and CI and the Manager of CI Methodologies and Support and operational support to senior division leaders, and staff to support process improvement
2. Collaborates with the Manager of CI/ Process Methodologies and Support to report and communicate the results from process improvement efforts to organizational leadership
3. Advises divisional, departmental, and PI staff on process improvement topics to implement and sustain changes
4. Builds strong relationships to enhance collaboration between the PI team and divisional and departmental staff
5. Engages people and develops them through teamwork and a high level of participation
6. Provides education to various organizational constituencies in performance improvement and lean methodologies including but not limited to SSE identification and scoring, RCAs, ACAs, Common Cause Analysis, Data capture, Display and Analytical tools, Organizational Defined Safety Practices, etc. Serves as a subject matter expert to the organization in this area.
7. Displays behavior consistent with a change agent and understands/practices the principles of transformational change
8. Utilizes process improvement principles and tools to achieve significant improvement results
9. Drives for high quality, actionable results
10. Partners with the Senior Director of Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement and the Manager of CI/Process Methodologies and Support to develop and track project metrics
11. Works directly with project team to identify costs saving opportunities through the project cycle
12. Monitors performance and improvement in key metrics
13. Supports the delivery of operational and financial improvements to meet or exceed annual targets
14. Leads data mining associated with projects being facilitating
15. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor Degree
    ; Business Administration
    ;
  • Credential(s): Green Belt within 12 months of hire, if not already obtained
    ;
  • Experience: Required: One (1) year of direct application of the Lean methodology or equivalent process improvement experience in a healthcare setting - Six Sigma Green Belt education and experience - Trained in the tools and techniques of process improvement methodology - 1 year of experience facilitating improvement projects, utilizing knowledge of performance improvement tools and techniques (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) in a hospital setting

    Preferred: - Two (2) years' experience in a Six Sigma Black belt Specialist position in a healthcare setting. - Trained in the tools and techniques of Lean process improvement methodology - Project management experience and project teams
