Job Summary:

We are seeking a driven Contract Manufacturing Manager that will be responsible for managing external manufacturing services for chemical formulations and packaging at SBM Life Science. This role will play a key role in delivering quality products our customers use to beautify their outdoor living spaces. The focus of our Contract Manufacturing Manager is to source the best partners for building our externally made products, enable growth through capacity development, and reduce risk through business continuity planning. This role reports into our department Head of Supply Chain and Operations in North America and will be an important part of our operations team.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, or another technical field is required.
  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience in managing 3rd party manufacturers and/or suppliers, or related role
  • Operations experience in a chemical formulation or Consumer Products Manufacturing background
  • Project Management experience

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong collaboration skills with other cross-functional teams (R&D, Legal, Sales, Finance)
  • Strong strategic planning and tactical decision-making skills
  • Ability to prepare and analyze bill of materials and standard cost of goods
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks and meet constant deadline with strong attention to detail and quality control

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize the contract manufacturing network
  • Negotiate/enforce contracts, build pricing structures, analyze sourcing alternatives
  • Strive to ensure lowest delivered cost whether turnkey vs. tolling arrangements
  • Collaborate with Planning to maintain appropriate inventory levels (raw, package, and finished good), and satisfactory service levels
  • Develop and execute strategies to reduce cost and improve quality
  • Project management of technical transfers between sites and introduction of new products to a tolling partner
  • Develop business continuity plans for key strategic supply relationships
  • Collaborate with R&D to address technical and/or quality challenges as they arise
  • Develop and review standard cost of goods with Finance and Marketing
  • Prepare annual budgets for external manufacturing
  • Familiarity with production of FIFRA regulated intermediate(s) and Finished Products
  • ERP system familiarity - examples SAP & Sage
  • Develop/maintain database containing key information for all tolling services including terms, conditions, SKUs & pricing

Physical Requirements:
  • Lift up to 40lbs.
  • Occasional work in non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility

Travel Requirements:
  • Domestic travel required up to 25% of the time.
