Job Title: Controller
Location: Main Office
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Treasurer, is responsible for the management of all accounting and financial reporting functions of the bank and related subsidiaries. Manages, coaches, and evaluates job performance of department staff to ensure effective performance, excellent service, and strong employee engagement.
Essential Functions:
Consistently provides superior professional service to internal and external customers. Consistently meets expectations of teamwork, punctuality and regular, reliable attendance. Effectively performs in the area of employee management and development through conducting regular staff meetings; monitoring staffing levels; demonstrating strong communication, coaching, and training of staff; conducting performance evaluations; focusing on staff development; and ensuring employee engagement. Assumes responsibility for the over-site and integrity of general ledger, fixed assets, investments, accounts payable, and general accounting functions by: developing and administering procedures; reviews the effectiveness of procedures; reviews work performed by the Finance Staff and balancing of general ledger and subsystem accounts; responds to and implements audit recommendations; performs on a backup basis, duties of Finance Staff, as needed. Performs analyses and provides recommendations for modifications to existing systems. Maintains records of the holding company, bank, subsidiary and foundation. Asset/liability management: member of the Asset/Liability Committee- participates and records minutes; creates and prepares reports for ALCO; prepares and accumulates and provides ALM assumption data to consultant for quarterly simulations; verifies accuracy of reports received from consultant; tracks various ALM strategies. Oversees daily analysis of funding needs and analyzes funding on a regular basis, adjusting various balances to maximize the use of funds. Prepares cash flow projections and stress testing. Participates in and provides support data for deposit pricing meetings, updates weekly guidance for commercial loan pricing. Assumes responsibility for all financial reporting of the bank and all subsidiaries by performing or assigning work for the preparation of reports required by management, Loan and Investment, Directors, external auditors and all regulatory agencies; annual bank budget; analytical financial information; and other miscellaneous reports. Assumes responsibility for all income, backup withholding, and use tax remittance and accounting for all bank and subsidiary entities. Responsible for developing and administering policies, reviewing for effectiveness, and recommending and implementing changes in accounting policies. Communicates information as needed to ensure bank-wide adherence to accounting policies and procedures. Maintains and provides accounting estimates for balance sheet presentations using various analytical tools, for example, allowance for credit loss, net interest spread, BOLI and post- retirement benefits. Responsible through department team members, for the effective tracking, maintenance and reconciling of the banks Investment portfolio. Participates in investment strategy discussions and decisions. Responsible for the implementation, monitoring and documentation of all internal controls related to the banks financial reporting systems. Performs miscellaneous duties or tasks as assigned by the Treasurer.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
The following skills, experience, or background are necessary (with or without accommodation) for this position.
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting. A minimum of five years bank accounting experience in a bank, audit or examination setting. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred but not required. Demonstrated strong analytical skills. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Prior management and demonstrated leadership experience (minimum of 2 years). Understanding of asset/liability management concepts. Understanding of and experience with Allowance for Credit Losses. Experience with and general knowledge of computer systems, especially in the areas of accounting systems and spreadsheets. Knowledge of consolidated financial reporting. Ability to work independently.
