Controller

Sunset Imports is looking for an experienced Controller to join our team! As our Controller, you will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the dealership, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining robust internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dealership accounting, exceptional analytical skills, and a proven track record of financial management within the automotive industry.

Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all financial information, adhering to GAAP and dealership policies.
• Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Develop and manage the dealership's annual budget and financial forecasts.
  • Analyze financial performance against budget and provide insights to senior management.
• Internal Controls and Compliance:
  • Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard dealership assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Cash Flow Management:
  • Monitor and manage dealership cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operations.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory accounting functions.
• Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, and provide training and development opportunities for team members.
• Audit and Tax Coordination:
  • Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage dealership tax filings and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• Proven experience as a Controller in an automotive dealership, with at least [X years] in a senior financial management role.
• In-depth knowledge of dealership accounting software (e.g., [mention specific software]) and financial management systems.
