Description:
POSITION TITLE: Controller
FUNCTION: The Controller is responsible for safeguarding Developlus, Inc. assets and ensures the accurate and timely recording of all accounting transactions. The Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maximizes return on financial assets by establishing and enforcing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems
Ensure accurate and timely production of the monthly accounting close process, including analytical review of the monthly operating results.
Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors
Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions
Provide year-end support for external accounting firm, including reconciliations.
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions
Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential
Other assigned miscellaneous projects as business dictates
REQUIREMENTS:
5+ years as a Controller in a manufacturing environment
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working in ERP Systems
Strong cost accounting experience
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Ability to work without direct supervision and efficiently manage tasks and time
Strong strategic thinking ability, project management skills, and negotiating skills
Strong skills in leadership, communication, initiative, decisiveness, planning, and organization
Flexible team player attitude

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the supervision and management of accounting employees.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance preferred
Five plus years' experience in a controller or senior level finance position preferred
Five plus years' in a manufacturing environment with cost accounting experience required
CERTIFICATES: CPA preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and complaints. Effective and persuasive presentation skills on controversial or complex topics to top management.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be able to calculate figures and amounts for all bookkeeping, payroll, budgets, statistical analysis, and probability statements. Controller must use the utmost discretion in all presentations/correspondence and communication with staff, CFO, Board of Directors, and Executive Director.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to reason and problem solve complex issues

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is mostly sedentary and requires some repetitive hand movements, may require some standing, walking, bending, and filing throughout the work day.
