Position Summary

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:
  • Supervision and participation in the monthly close processes, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Supervisory responsibilities could include: accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, franchise tax filings, quarterly tax payments, annual tax payments, workers compensation audit, annual financial audit, and/or treasury administration.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations towards policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to creating procedures to make the reporting process more efficient and accurate.
  • Prepare financials for review. This includes consolidations.
  • Review G/L coding of all transactions ensuring they are booked properly.
  • Assist in completion of the tasks of the department as necessary.
  • Be the expert on our accounting system (NetSuite) and coach team members on functionality.
  • Supervise the reporting of sales taxes to multiple states.
  • Ensure accounting is aligned with GAAP for multiple business units including franchisor, company owned restaurants, manufacturing, technology, and non-profit.
  • Audit and review franchise and area development agreements to ensure proper collection, payment, and accounting (per ASU 2014-09) of fees.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal tax laws and regulations.
  • Review accounts receivable balances and assist with collections as necessary.
  • Assist VP in the successful completion of the annual audits. This includes work paper preparation and handling questions.
  • Identify and manage outside CPA firm.
  • Prepare documentation for the successful completion of the tax returns prepared by outside CPA firm.
  • Ensure reconciliations of the bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts are performed regularly.
  • Review and modify internal controls to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley.
  • Prepare and analyze daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly reporting as needed around finances and cash management.
  • Work with leadership to design and maintain a compliant and efficient accounting model for the parent company and subsidiaries.
  • Assist VP and CFAO with any job duties necessary for the success of the Department.

Pre-Requisites and Skills
  • Licensed CPA
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; Master's Degree desired but not required
  • 7+ years' experience in accounting showing upward mobility in career
  • Proficiency in financial reporting
  • Stong knowledge of accounting principles
  • Ability and willingness to work in a Dallas-based office. We are not offering relocation assistance.
  • NetSuite experience desired
