Applied Composites (AC) is seeking a Controller who will lead the Financial Accounting and Control Function and manage the business financial reporting, budgets, and internal control processes. Partners with other senior management to define the global finance and accounting strategic plan. Ensures financial business processes comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Job Accountabilities:
  • Partners with other senior management in defining the global Finance and Accounting strategic plan while ensuring the maximization of the company's financial performance
  • Oversees the execution of the strategic plan and manages the financial reporting, budgets, and internal processes
  • Leads the accounting department and advises management in interpreting and utilizing managerial accounting information
  • Manages all accounting operations while monitoring costs and capital expenditures
  • Directs the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts, and report variances
  • Develops business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensures timely and complete financial statements and oversees the preparation of the corporate annual report
  • Accurately reports the financial results of Applied Composites' operations by Generally Accepted Principles (GAAP) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Prepares reports which summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations
  • Provides financial analyses, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Gathers and analyzes data to inform commercial pricing decisions; validates accuracy and integrity to ensure competitive proposals and pricing decisions.
  • Leads and directs work for a team of employees as defined by business needs
  • Manages staff selection, performance, development, and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Job Specifications:

Education: Post-Secondary Degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations

Years Experience: 15 years or more of relevant experience

Skills:
  • Demonstrated success in defining and executing a Finance and Accounting strategic plan to ensure the maximization of the company's financial performance
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, and analysis; acquired through work experience in increasingly complex roles
  • Significant experience and knowledge in project accounting, particularly in the percentage-of-completion method (PCM) as revenue recognition and cost allocation method.
  • Manufacturing experience is required; aerospace experience is preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and ERP experience are a plus
  • Capable of driving change, transformation and strategy execution to achieve specific business results
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence while exercising sensitivity to the audience
  • CPA preferred but not required
