POSITION SUMMARY:

The Controller directs the establishment and implementation of accounting policies and procedures in an organization. They are responsible for accounting operations and systems, analysis and report preparation, tax-related compliance and planning, and leading accounting professionals and staff.

The Controller also manages the payroll processing and HRIS system utilized for all companies under the umbrella of Borland Groover.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures
  • Planning, organizing, and coordinating the year-end close process with external auditors and accountants.
  • Preparing financial statements, including cash flow statements.
  • Planning, budgeting, and authorizing expenditures.
  • Hiring, training, and retaining competent accounting staff.
  • Implement Borland Groover's financial strategic policy while managing day-to-day accounting and overseeing accounting staff and financial vendors.
  • Manage financial accounting and reporting for all legal entities, including consolidations and inter-company reconciliations, with recommendations for process improvements.
  • Enforce effective treasury management procedures, including timely receivable collections.
  • Monitor payroll allocation and volume, ensuring accuracy while proactively identifying and implementing payroll process improvements.
  • Champion and manage the integration of account reconciliation software to improve the efficiency and accuracy of inter-department and company-wide account reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including:
    • Coordinate corporate income tax filings and estimated payments.
    • Oversight of sales and use tax filings and compliance.
    • Support for property tax, franchise tax, and other regulatory filings.
  • Work with an outside CPA firm for reviews, audits, and corporate tax preparation, including quarterly tax estimates.
  • Provide oversight for all areas of fixed asset accounting, including cap-ex and covenant reporting and compliance with policy.
  • Streamline reporting and transaction entries through ERP automation initiatives.


GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and tax compliance requirements.
  • 10 years of accounting experience, including previous management experience.
  • Must have 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Experience with financial software and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP).
  • Critical thinker with an ability to problem solve.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Ability to see within normal parameters.
  • Ability to hear within normal range.
  • Ability to use hands, arms, and legs within the specifications of the job.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
