The Controller will oversee all financial and accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and optimizing financial performance within the financial leasing and funding sector. Controller
Accounting - Sandy, UT
Med One Group, a leader in the medical equipment finance industry for over 30 years, is seeking a Controller in Sandy, UT. The Controller will oversee all financial and accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and optimizing financial performance within the financial leasing and funding sector. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of lease accounting standards, financial management, and the nuances of the leasing and funding industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial leadership within this sector.
Essential Functions & Skills
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and financial planning.
- Monitor key financial performance indicators and provide insights to senior management.
- Supervise day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure accurate accounting treatment for leasing and funding transactions, including lease origination, modifications, and terminations, in accordance with ASC 842 and other relevant standards.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and industry-specific regulations.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to manage annual audits and tax filings.
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Lead and mentor the accounting and finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Collaborate with other departments, including sales, operations, and legal, to provide financial insights and support.
- Optimize accounting systems and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve financial reporting and internal controls.
- Prepare and submit timely regulatory filings and reports in accordance with financial leasing industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge of evolving leasing and financial services regulations, ensuring organizational compliance at all times.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the financial leasing and funding industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- In-depth knowledge of lease accounting standards and experience with lease accounting software.
