Alterome Therapeutics is seeking a Corporate Controller responsible for oversight of all accounting activities. The Controller will design and execute best-in-class strategies, accounting processes and controls, incorporating critical thinking to drive operational performance and leading Alterome's focus on fiduciary responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accounting Leadership & Compliance: Oversee all aspects of accounting operations ensuring compliance with GAAP. Ability to partner with executive leadership to align financial reporting with business strategy.
  • Financial Close & Reporting: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to reporting standards. Including external reporting of financial statements and related information to investors.


  • Technical Accounting: Provide technical accounting expertise in clinical trial accruals, revenue recognition (ASC606), lease accounting (ASC 842), and complex transactions. Ability to research, document, and write technical memos as needed.
  • Process Improvement & Scalability: Develop and implement best-in-class accounting policies and procedures to drive efficiency and support growth.


  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Strengthen internal controls, remediate deficiencies, support SOX compliance, and prepare for IPO-readiness and other regulatory requirements.
  • Audit, Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Be a liaison with external auditors and manage all aspects of quarterly and annual audits. Work with external tax accountants to complete tax provisions and file annual corporate taxes.


  • ERP & Systems Implementation: Serve as a key leader in ERP implementation, working closely with Operations and IT to optimize accounting processes and ensure scalability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with key stakeholders across the organization to provide financial insights and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Talent Development & Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, development, and operational excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education, Experience & Industry Knowledge: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, CPA preferred, 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience in a growing company, ideally in biotech or a related life science industry.


  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition, clinical trial accounting, lease accounting, and tax.


  • Process Optimization: Proven ability to drive significant process improvements and implement scalable accounting operations.
  • Internal Controls Mastery: Strong understanding of internal controls with the ability to assess, recommend, and enhance control frameworks.
  • Adaptability & Problem-Solving: Ability to navigate complex challenges in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a strategic mindset and a hands-on approach.
  • Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels.
  • Attention to Detail and Communication: Extraordinary organizational skills, with a high level of accuracy, accountability, and an unwavering focus on excellence. Excellent communication and presentation skills and a sense of urgency and confidentiality.

Salary Information: $200,000 - $230,000 (plus equity) based on skills and experience
