What is this role?

As a high growth and dynamic business, Cirkul has expanded its manufacturing operations to include a facility in Salt Lake City. The equipment utilized here has a high degree of control complexity and vision system monitoring. The Controls & Vision engineer will be a critical piece of the plant engineering team (onsite) and the rest of the engineering teams (based in Tampa) to increase Cirkul's capability to design and troubleshoot the equipment's program and corresponding vision systems. The Controls and Vision engineer will work cross functionally with operations, quality, and OEMs to reapply best industry and Cirkul specific practices to ensure the automation equipment is producing reliable high-quality product at low scrap rates. The Controls and Vision engineer will also work closely with maintenance leadership and technicians to increase the 24/7 knowledge base to troubleshoot machine, materials, and product issues.

What does an average day look like?
  • Driving Results:
  • Ensures equipment is operating at optimal performance, meeting product quality standards with minimal downtime.
  • Focuses on high-quality production outcomes by troubleshooting and resolving complex automation issues.
  • Taking Ownership:
  • Responsible for the smooth operation and continual improvement of the controls and vision systems at the Salt Lake City facility.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for all issues related to controls and vision systems.
  • Making Decisions:
  • Makes data-driven decisions based on thorough analysis of system performance, equipment issues, and production needs.
  • Decides on corrective actions when issues arise, ensuring quick resolution to maintain production flow.
  • Cultivating Relationships:
  • Works closely with plant operations, quality teams, OEMs, and maintenance leadership to foster strong relationships.
  • Collaborates with the engineering team in Tampa and other cross-functional departments to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Instilling Trust:
  • Builds trust within the team and with external stakeholders by providing consistent, reliable solutions.
  • Ensures a high level of transparency in decision-making and communication regarding system issues.
  • Customer Focus:
  • Focuses on ensuring the production of high-quality products, minimizing scrap rates, and meeting customer expectations for reliability and performance.

What background should you have?
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, Automation, or a related field; or an Associate's degree in a relevant discipline with equivalent professional experience.
  • 4+ Years of Work Experience within the Manufacturing field that utilized vision systems
  • Strong passion for controls engineering and a desire to build a career in this field.
  • Solid understanding of basic electrical and control system principles.
  • Familiarity with programming languages and software used in controls engineering, such as ladder logic, structured text, C/C++, Java, Python, AutoCAD
  • Ability to take high level direction and turn it into executable tasks
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Willing to work hard, stay until the job is complete, and demonstrate resilience
  • Have a positive attitude, willing to work with multiple levels of employees, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience or internships in controls engineering or automation-related roles is a plus.
