Scope of Position:
We are seeking a skilled IT Controls Engineer to own and manage IT-related software and controls systems within our Optical Fiber manufacturing process. You will work closely with plant engineers and operations teams to optimize manufacturing through automation, data integration, and custom application development. This role offers the opportunity to combine hands-on technical support with long-term systems development and innovation.

We are seeking a skilled IT Controls Engineer to own and manage IT-related software and controls systems within our Optical Fiber manufacturing process. You will work closely with plant engineers and operations teams to optimize manufacturing through automation, data integration, and custom application development. This role offers the opportunity to combine hands-on technical support with long-term systems development and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and maintain the process control software for one or more manufacturing steps in the Optical Fiber plant
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for automation systems, MES data feeds, and reporting tools
- Develop, modify, and support software systems used in manufacturing, including web-based and stand-alone applications
- Provide 24/7 production support, working with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal performance and uptime
- Lead or participate in capital projects from planning to execution, managing scope, schedule, and budget
- Troubleshoot low-voltage control circuits and networked systems
- Deliver training on control systems, equipment interfaces, or new process technologies
- Participate in on-call rotation every 5-6 weeks
Required Qualifications:
Strong programming skills in:
- C/C++/C#
- Visual Basic 6, VB.Net
- PowerShell scripting
- iFIX/SCADA (or equivalent industrial automation systems)
Experience with:
- Relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server)
- MSMQ, XML integration
- Troubleshooting control systems and simple electrical circuits
Desired Skills:
- Windows PC Imaging: Experience building custom Windows 10/11 images for industrial systems with cybersecurity and 24/7 reliability considerations
- OSI PI System: Familiarity with PI Data Historian, Asset Framework, and PI Vision
- Familiarity with MES platforms (Camstar or similar)
- Project management experience in engineering or IT/OT integration
- Comfort working with cross-functional teams and communicating complex information clearly
