POSITION SUMMARY: VIA Motors is seeking an experienced, motivated and skilled Control Systems Engineer. As a Control Systems Engineer, you will be part of the team that defines the controls architecture for VIA's Electric Range Extended Vehicle platform.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Hands-on development and implementation of model based control software: specification, design, implementation and validation.
Hands-on development of simulation environment suitable to assisting development and validation of model based software.
Leadership on developing verification and validation test plans and supervising testing.
Collect, analyze and present functional, system or vehicle level test data for the team's review and participate in decision making processes at the functional, system or vehicle level.
Participate in creation of data analyses, simulation or work-flow automation scripts in Matlab or other programming languages.
Capture requirements from internal/external customers and develop them into achievable software requirements.
Review of software developed by peers.
Risk assessment via DFMEA.
Development of processes, work instructions and guidelines for the software development life-cycle.
Contribution to proposals to customers, especially technical content.
Pursuing of patent protection for VIA technology where appropriate.
Up to 30% travel may be required based on project demands.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Systems or Automotive Engineering.
5+ years of experience in model-based design and creating control algorithms in Matlab/Simulink and Stateflow.
Familiarity with automotive coding standards such as MISRA-AC.
Solid hands on experience with working with automotive control systems.
Very strong understanding of electric and hybrid vehicle power-trains.
Proficiency in the use of CAN network analysis tools such as Vector Canalyzer, Woodward Mototune, or similar programs.
Familiarity with version control systems such as CVS, GIT etc.
Familiarity with requirements management software such as TopTeam, IBM Doors etc.
