Dept./School: SPED & Federal Programs Primary Purpose:
Provide leadership in developing and implementing the district's dual language program, including curriculum development, professional training and campus support.
Assists teachers with instructional methodology in order to provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth; enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Campus Planning and Communication:Work cooperatively with others regarding individual student needs. Conduct conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers as necessary. Assist campus leadership in conducting needs assessment and campus planning in the area of overall student achievement in reading. Maintain confidentiality of information. Be a positive role model for students; support mission of school district. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Instructional and Program Management:Implement procedures and coordinate the process to identify dual language students at all grade levels districtwide, including review of student data and testing of students. Develop dual language curricular documents and instructional support materials. Provide resources and materials to support staff in accomplishing program goals. Work with other curriculum coordinators to establish and maintain challenging academic standards that will ensure that students learn English and Spanish as well as content information within established timeframes. Consult with teachers to develop and provide dual language students with appropriate course work through curriculum modification and acceleration. Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in the classroom. Plan and provide staff development including sessions on methods for identifying and instructing dual language students and enriched learning. Work with campuses to plan and conduct parent meetings. Consult with parents, administrators, counselors, teachers, community agencies, and other relevant individuals regarding dual language students. Evaluate the dual language program effectiveness based on evaluative findings (including student achievement data) and recommend changes as needed.
Budget and Inventory:Participate in development, preparation, and administration of the budget for supplies and equipment and ensure that the program is cost effective and funds are managed wisely. Contribute to the selection and purchase of supplemental equipment and supplies for the program. Participate in grant-writing activities to obtain program funding.
OtherCompile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. 2. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board policy.

Starting Salary Range: $77,529 - $93,413
Work Calendar: 226 Days
Salary determination will be based on verified relevant work experience.

Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree with a specialization in Reading (preferred)
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsement in Bilingual Education (Spanish)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of the Gomez and Gomez Dual Language Enrichment Model
- Knowledge of strategies and materials for the education of bilingual/dual language students
- Ability to interpret data
- Ability to communicate effectively with bilingual parents and students
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Response to Intervention (RTI) for dual language students
Extensive knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment of reading
Extensive knowledge of Texas Curriculum (TEKS) and state assessments
Ability to interact positively with students, parents, and educators - Ability to perform job duties and/or attend meetings and professional development, and make and receive phone calls in a virtual or remote workplace environment
Experience:
- Three years or more of successful teaching experience as a bilingual/dual language teacher
- Successful experience working with at-risk students
