GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the leadership of the Director, Office of Family and Community Engagement, the Coordinator, Educational Foundation position, will coordinate efforts of the Virginia Beach Public Schools Education Foundation (VBEF), including strategic planning, coordination and support of the Board of Directors committee functions, and fundraising development activities. The role involves serving as the primary liaison between the VBEF and Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS), ensuring seamless communication and collaboration to advance the foundation's mission and goals. A major focus for the coordinator will be to lead fund raising efforts, such as reaching out to private sector entities and other organizations to solicit funds or grants to support VBEF's yearly award of grants and scholarships.

Must have comprehensive knowledge of media, public, and community relations, as well as non-profit objectives and procedures. Must exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to work effectively with all internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to Board members, administrators, volunteers, and support staff. Must be competent in business metrics including financial reports, analysis, and evaluation. Must be proficient in initiating, monitoring, and evaluating programs. Must maintain effective working relationships with officials and staff. Must be able to manage pressure, emergencies, and interactions with high-level representatives efficiently and effectively.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required: Bachelor's Degree in business administration, education, social work, or a related field, grant writing and fundraising experience in related fields.
Preferred: Master's Degree in business asministration, social work, social sciences, fundraising, education, or related subjects. Nonprofit certifications include the Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credential.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Frequent sitting, walking, bending, grasping, fingering, repetitive motion, and reaching. Occasional standing, stooping, crouching, and driving. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently. Requires timely and regular adherence to established work schedules.

Salary Range: From/To
Salary range: $86,577-$126,287
Salary will be based on job-related creditable years of full-time, verified work experience. Entry-level salary will be awarded at the time of hire. Upon the return of employment verification forms from the candidate's current and previous employers, the salary will be adjusted if creditable full-time experience is confirmed.

Strategic Operations
- Assist the Education Foundation with the development of strategic plan, structures, and by-laws.
- Plan and coordinate organizational programs and activities in line with the mission and goals of the organization.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prepare quarterly and annual reports and / or presentations to communicate the success of the VBEF program.
- Prepare and submit local, federal, or state grant applications to secure funding.
- Design digital and non-digital marketing materials that promote VBEF activities and information through social media channels, press releases, presentations, etc.
- Serve as a spokesperson for VBEF to internal and external stakeholders.
- Present at local and regional workshops.
- Attend related training and conferences.
- Meet quarterly with other Education Foundations Directors.
Fundraising
- Drive fund raising efforts while maintaining effective communication with donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
- Develop, implement, and manage strategies to drive annual fundraising efforts.
- Organize and manage public events, campaigns, and volunteer activities.
- Prepare, promote, and manage the VBEF grant process including the design and distribution of applications and overseeing the selection process.
Leadership
- Coordinate efforts for the Education Foundation Board of Directors: organize quarterly Board of Directors' meetings; plan Executive Committee and Special Committee meetings; and maintain regular correspondence with the Foundation Board members.
- Manage the nomination and recruiting of new Board members.
- Develop training materials/workshops for Board members.
- Oversee and support a team of staff.
- Participate in the Office of Family and Community Engagement's activities including staff meetings assisting with other functions as needed.
- Perform related work as required.
