The Coordinator of Math - High School provides leadership and direction for the development, implementation, and evaluation of mathematics programs across high schools in the district. The Coordinator of Math - High School will not typically participate in the evaluation of classroom teachers except in unique professional support plans but may be asked to participate in the evaluation of administrators.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Explicitly model, through communication and actions, the core values and beliefs of D300 goals and mission.
- Execute tasks connected to the Strategic Plan in the professional development department.
- Promote mathematical practices by working collaboratively with the Director of Math PreK-8, as well as other District administrators.
- Provide consistency in monitoring the implementation of research-based instructional practices.
- Oversee the implementation of curricular and instructional expectations of the high school math programs through collaboration with the district administrators.
- Work with building administrators to target professional development staff needs to ensure best practices for math based on school and district data.
- Support the implementation of the high school math courses.
- Monitor student program placement and academic progress through data analysis.
- Oversee the continual development and growth of math in terms of curriculum and instruction implementation, teacher efficacy, and planning for professional development.
- In collaboration with the Director of Math PreK-8, execute department goals that are tied to the district's strategic plan.
- Support math programs and assist with the supervision and implementation of the curriculum to meet all students' needs.
- Assist with planning and coordinating the administration of district and state assessments such as Renaissance Star and ACT.
- Assist in program evaluation for improvement in math instruction as determined by local, state, and federal requirements.
- Support the implementation of the AVID program in the high schools.
- Provide leadership and support to the building division heads.
- Utilize knowledge of current trends in math instruction to plan and provide professional development.
- Actively seek new core and supplemental resources from a range of sources to enrich teachers' skills in implementing effective instruction for all students.
- Provide direct training and professional development for staff.
- Prepare appropriate reports and documentation as requested by the Director, the evaluators, and/or the Superintendent of Schools.
- Disseminate information about effective secondary mathematical practices to District staff and community.
- Keep abreast of current research-based practices addressing the instructional practices and the appropriate placement of students in math.
- Provide guidance (as needed) to principals on best practices in teacher evaluation (utilizing the Danielson Framework) for the teaching area(s) that fall under this role.
- Actively participate in District job-alike committees, in the District instructional leadership team meetings, in other meetings and committees as directed, and in one's own professional development for this role.
- Attend or chair various meetings outside of the District; represent the District in collaborative partnerships, task forces, committees, businesses, and human service agencies.
- Attain personal proficiency in District-supported technology platforms, applications, and tools, including but not limited to the Learning Management System, ChromeOS, Student Information System, Skyward, Google Drive, assessment platform, and digital instructional materials
- Serve as a member of the Academic Team and Superintendent Cabinet as needed.
- Participate on Collaborative Councils, as appropriate.
- Attend School Board meetings as requested.
- Participate in evening and weekend events as needed.
- Assume additional duties as delegated by the Director of Math PreK-8, Assistant Superintendents of Curriculum and Instruction, and/or assigned by the Deputy Superintendent.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Valid Illinois Professional Education License with General Administrative or Principal Endorsement through ISBE.
- Minimum of five years teaching experience and previous administrative experience.
- Knowledge of math acquisition, state standards, and national standards.
- Extensive knowledge of instructional best practices in math.
- Extensive knowledge in evidence-based practices for math.
- Experience in the development and implementation of progress monitoring, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Knowledge of the Professional Learning Community process and foundational concepts.
- Knowledge of modern pedagogical approaches, including tiered and scaffolded instruction.
- Understanding of continuous improvement processes.
- Knowledge of IL School Code and all applicable Federal and State education requirements.
