PRIMARY PURPOSE:
- To support student and teacher achievement and maintain standards of excellence in curriculum design, instructional strategies, and professional learning in assigned curricular areas.
Education/Certification:
- Master's Degree Preferred
- Texas Teacher Certificate
- Possess knowledge and experience in curriculum systems, including design and backwards planning
- Possess knowledge of effective instructional techniques and strategies
- Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a variety of audiences
- Possess knowledge and understanding of the policies and procedures of the MISD.
- Demonstrate highly effective organizational and consensus-building skills.
- Possess knowledge of technology and its value in enhancing academic achievement.
- Possess knowledge and understanding of the change process, organizational development, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills
- Ability to develop and deliver high-quality professional learning to a wide variety of audiences
- Successful experience as a teacher in assigned curricular area.
- Successful experience as an instructional leader at the campus or district level
- Coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of system-wide curriculum resources for a variety of experiences and levels
- Collaborate with district staff and outside personnel to provide high-quality learning opportunities for MISD staff
- Conduct research and develop the educational program designed to meet both the state standard and community needs
- Serve as a content expert and consultant to administrators at all levels
- Develop and select system-wide testing materials for program improvement
- Analyze test results and utilize data to improve the content, sequence, and outcomes of the teaching-learning process
- Support campuses through PLCs, learning walks, and data meetings
- Design and develop remediation and extension resources, including summer programs and credit recovery
- Lead efforts in improving student performance on assessments such as STAAR, TSIA2 and SAT
- Consult in revising or adding courses per state requirements and system requirements
- Initiate, develop, and direct professional learning for a variety of audiences
- Participate in the district-level decision making process to establish and review the district's goals and objectives and major classroom instructional programs of the district
- Assist in the assignment of teachers to various committees
- Evaluate and implement high-quality instructional materials, including textbooks and digital resources
- Participate in professional organization meetings in specified curricular content areas
- Assist in the implementation of policies of the MISD
- Serve as a liaison between TEA, Region X and MISD
- Perform other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and conduct performance reviews for Secondary Reading Language Arts and LOTE department staff.
