We are hiring for our Chief Development Officer! The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is a collaborative and visionary leader who develops and manages a diverse cross-section of fundraising programs in complex and high-performing environments. The CDO drives philanthropic revenue growth, manages fundraising teams and processes, and implements innovative programs to strengthen fundraising capabilities, deepening philanthropic partnerships, and implements actionable metrics for fundraising accountability. This requires strong leadership and team management skills, a deep understanding of philanthropic strategies, and the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. The CDO will be passionate about our mission and committed to driving philanthropic impact across our diverse set of affiliates. This is a remote role requiring 50% or more travel across the U.S.

- Develop and implement fundraising strategy: Create and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes but is not limited to major gifts, capital fundraising, planned giving, annual fund, special events and campaigns, and grant writing and supports the strategic goals and initiatives of Transforming Age and its affiliates.
- Leadership and Management: Strong collaboration with CEO, SLT and board. Establish a culture of philanthropy across the organization and lead and manage the philanthropy team ensuring high performance and productivity.
- Establishment of a culture of accountability, implementation of fundraising major gift portfolios and regular portfolio update practices; a data-driven approach to fundraising goals and outcomes, implementation of metrics related to fundraising activity, and year-over-year dollars raised.
- Successfully plans, organizes and manages the philanthropic operations including strategic initiatives, fund raising, donor relationship development, securing grants, and managing philanthropic programs and services.
- Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards a portfolio of donors and prospects to support the growth of our Foundation, major gift giving, grants and special fundraising campaigns.
- Identifies new opportunities for comprehensive integrated partnerships, corporate giving support through proactive prospecting as well as ongoing cultivation of Transforming Age's current major funders.
- Creates and manages self-sustainable funding model for the Philanthropy operations and manages operation budgets, financial statements, performance benchmarks, operating schedules and cost-per-dollar raised.
- Marketing and Communications: Work with the Communications team to develop and implement shared communications strategies to promote Transforming Age's mission, programs, and services, including responsibility for curating the organization's voice and value proposition to donors, and ensuring the creation of collateral materials and other media content in support of fundraising objectives.
- Advocacy and Awareness: Represent Transforming Age at community events, conferences, and public forums to enhance visibility and influence.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations related to fundraising and development and provide regular reports on fundraising activities and outcomes.
- Develops, implements and maintains policies and procedures for effective governance and operation of philanthropic activities and programs.
- Promotes the Mission, Vision and Values of Transforming Age in all areas of responsibility, and demonstrate commitment to Culture of Excellence and strategic goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
- Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited, four-year college or university.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience required of progressively responsible, non-profit Foundation or fundraising, including planned giving, major gift programs, capital campaigns and grant writing.
- Long-term care, senior living, higher education and/or healthcare fundraising experience in a company with multiple locations is highly preferred.
- Experience with estate planning, probate, trusts, tax planning for gifts, exclusive of offering legal or tax counsel.
- Must meet and demonstrate C-level Leadership Competencies
- Requires knowledge and experience in laws governing the operations of senior living communities.
- Strong strategic, financial acumen and budget management experience.
- Exceptional problem-solving and time management skills.
- Ability to identify, evaluate and mitigate risk.
- Ability to represent the company effectively in a variety of settings with a demonstrated understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures.
- Ability to develop, analyze, and interpret business policies, procedures, training materials, and communications.
