Corporate Accounting Manager

The Corporate Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting
activities for the portfolio's residential property management division. This individual should be highly skilled and experienced in a wide range of financial and accounting practices. Specifically, the position requires expertise in budget management, financial analysis, accounts payable,
accounts receivable and financial reporting. The Corporate Accounting Manager will also manage and supervise a team of 3 - 4 Accounting Specialist. Critical to the portfolio's success, the Corporate Accounting Manager must be comfortable reporting to senior management and working closely with other company departments. This position is fast-paced and will report to the VP of Finance.

Essential Job Functions
  • Review of work papers supporting the monthly close process and month end
    balances properties and additional ownership entities.
  • Review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the
    monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.
  • Coordinate with Compliance Team for accuracy in reporting for HUD rental
    calculations and LIHTC rent Calculations. Including input into accounting
    software
  • Coordinate with external auditors.
  • Review of audited financial statements and related footnotes for
    properties.
  • Perform cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and maximize
    the return on any excess cash balances.
  • Assist regional managers in preparation of annual budgets for client
    properties
  • Supervision of the accounts receivable staff.
  • Coordinate with AP the process annual 1099s and assist with the
    preparation of data for annual tax returns.
  • Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective internal
    controls.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and
    regulations.
  • Prepare a variety of comprehensive financial reports and data analysis for
    management
  • Gather and analyze properties financial data and trends, generate reports
    on findings
  • Coordinate with on-site staff, regional managers and corporate accountants
    to ensure financial reporting consistency
  • Investigate inconsistencies in data or financial processes
  • Work closely with management and other company departments to achieve
    outcomes based on company goals
  • Participate in special operational and/or financial projects as requested
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Specifications

Skills include a strong knowledge of accounting practices, principles, and terminology; in-depth knowledge of real estate concepts and practices; extensive analytical and math skills; ability
to work independently with minimal supervision; excellent verbal and written communication
skills; detail oriented and ability to work under pressure; self-motivated and
self-directed.

Other essential skills include:
  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in accounting or related discipline.
  • In-depth experience of a wide range of financial and accounting practices and processes.
  • Prior professional work experience in a position equivalent to an accounting supervisor or higher.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in property management preferred but not required.
  • Computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Experience with general ledger software required
  • Experience working with Yardi Systems property management software highly preferred.
  • Willingness to remain flexible and adapt to change as Company grows or modifies processes.
  • Extreme reliability with acute attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to stay organized, prioritize projects/tasks and meet deadlines with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to train and coach timekeeping and schedule management to leadership.
  • Must be self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to work independently, stay on task and solve issues proactively.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism in interactions with employees and other staff.
  • Ability to interact with upper management and third-party agencies and organizations with high level of efficiency and professionalism.
  • Successfully be able to convey findings to a diverse group within all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to handle confidential information.
