JOB SUMMARY:
The Corporate Attorney (Real Estate Focus) is responsible for having a strong background in real estate law to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will provide legal advice and support on a wide range of corporate matters, particularly those involving real estate transactions, leases, acquisitions, and corporate governance. This role will work closely with various departments to ensure legal compliance and risk management in relation to the company's real estate interests. The Corporate Attorney (Real Estate Focus) will play a critical role in building a positive work culture, driving employee involvement, and supporting change management efforts within the retail organization.

This role will work closely with various departments to ensure legal compliance and risk management in relation to the company's real estate interests. The Corporate Attorney (Real Estate Focus) will play a critical role in building a positive work culture, driving employee involvement, and supporting change management efforts within the retail organization.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial real estate contracts, including leases, purchase and sale agreements, and development agreements.
- Advise on land use and zoning regulations, property acquisitions, financing, and due diligence matters.
- Provide legal support in negotiating and closing real estate deals, including managing external counsel as needed.
- Provide counsel on corporate governance matters, including compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Draft and review company policies, contracts, and other legal documents to ensure legal protection and alignment with business objectives.
- Advise on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to real estate operations, corporate matters, and contractual agreements.
- Manage disputes or litigation related to real estate matters in collaboration with external counsel, if necessary.
- Work closely with real estate, finance, operations, and executive teams to support corporate and real estate goals.
- Provide ongoing legal advice and training to various departments on real estate and corporate legal matters.
- Ensure the company's compliance with state, federal, and local real estate laws, as well as corporate regulations.
- Keep abreast of legal developments in the real estate and corporate fields, providing updates to the company as needed.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Experience working in an in-house legal department.
- Knowledge of corporate compliance and governance practices.
- Familiarity with franchise or multi-location retail businesses is a plus.
- Ability to communicate legal concepts clearly and effectively to non-legal stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- This position requires travel as needed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice law in [State] and in good standing.
- 5+ years of corporate legal experience, with a strong focus on real estate transactions.
- Expertise in commercial real estate, including leasing, acquisitions, and development.
- Familiarity with land use, zoning laws, and environmental regulations.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing complex transactions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
