Corporate Controller

Classification: Salary, Exempt

Department: Accounting

Reports to: CEO

The Corporate Controller's main areas of responsibility are financial statement preparation, manufacturing costing and other analytical reports. Critical outcomes include supporting the management team with key financial information and operational analytics, driving a culture of accountability in managing the business, and adding value to operating businesses.

In addition, s/he will partner with the Executive Team and staff to enhance and better integrate finance, operations, and the other company functions.

Typical duties include:

  • Coordinating and preparing internal monthly financial statements, balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement.
  • Completing cash reconciliation and intercompany balancing report.
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts
  • Reviewing all income statement accounts for accuracy
  • Performing monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Entering Bank entries for the Operating, Payroll, and Saving accounts
  • Preparing accounts receivable report detailing all past dues and balancing GL to AR.
  • Reviewing all expense reports for accuracy and proper expense disclosure and classification.
  • Providing management with reports vital to the strategic and decision-making process
  • Reviewing and reconciling petty cash vouchers, replenishing petty cash on an as needed basis.
  • Reconciling vendor statements and handling payment complaints or discrepancies.
  • Assisting with credit card transactions (PO, receiving, transferring, etc...)
  • Customer service with vendors and customers
  • Continuous Internal Auditing for compliance
  • Responsible for State and Federal governmental reporting and compliance.
  • Managing a staff in the accounting department by training, delegating and confirming subordinate's results for accuracy.
  • Special Projects & Performing other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of 5-8 years', or equivalent Controller experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA or MBA are a plus, but not required.
  • Broad based finance background with experience overseeing finance, accounting, and information technology.
  • Experience using analytical information to drive profitability and growth.
  • An understanding of all aspects of business including accounting/finance, operations, fulfillment, distribution and sales and marketing.
  • Up to date knowledge of current financial and accounting computer applications.
  • Strong understanding and ability to work with MAS90.
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, and written skills.
