Cost Accounting Manager

Location: Hybrid or Remote depending on the geographical location of the candidate from our HQ office.

At JustFoodForDogs, we're on a mission to improve the length and quality of life for as many pets as possible. We're looking for an experienced Cost Accounting Manager who has a growth mindset and is full of big ideas to help deliver on this mission for pets nationwide.

In this role the Cost Accounting Manager will be responsible for ongoing analysis of process constraints; target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. In addition, this position will be handling month-end tasks related to inventory and gross margin. This position reports to the Senior Accounting Manager and is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast paced work environment and has a passion for dogs!

Key Responsibilities

• Track, review and analyze procurement related to variances and expenses such as purchase price variance, invoice price variance, and freight.
• Track, review and analyze manufacturing costs including production lbs, labor, overhead, and conversion costs.
• Manage the inventory health process ensuring inventory reconciles between ERP, WMS, and POS system.
• Conduct analytical studies on cost, margin and profitability by category, customer type, channel.
• Prepare and maintain monthly Excess & Obsolete reporting.
• Perform month-end closing tasks, including inventory count analysis, preparing and posting journal entries as necessary, analyze inventory evaluation, inventory roll forward.
• Ensure timely submission, accuracy and validity of inventory, gross margin schedules to management.
• Review and update standard costing on an annual basis as well as monitor changes on a periodic basis.
• Manage the physical inventory count process on an annual basis.
• Perform financial and profitability analysis on a requested basis.
• Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls
• Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and others

Qualifications

• BA in Accounting/Finance
• 4-6 years experience in cost accounting, manufacturing industry preferred
• Strong communications skills, written and spoken
• Strong computer skills with experience in NetSuite, and Microsoft Excel (advanced), Word, and Power point intermediate skills
• Experience with Microsoft Excel PowerQuery is a plus
• Experience with Soultion 7 is a plus
• Ability to work with and analyze large amount of data
• Accuracy and attention to detail in daily work and other projects
• Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines
• Ability to function as a team player
• Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards
