Job Summary

The position entails comprehensive oversight of cost accounting functions. The role necessitates a proactive individual with a strong learning inclination and adept communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders such as Foreign Subsidiaries, Engineering, Finance, and Purchasing departments. This role is key to improving profitability, and supporting decision-making through accurate cost data.

Minimum Job Requirements
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in cost accounting within the manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in handling large ERP systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Cost Accounting Standards.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivots, matching, index, vlookup, and nested formulas.


Job Duties / Responsibilities
Cost Accounting
  • Coordinate annual Physical Inventory counts across all locations and explain inventory variances.
  • Analyze variances in material, freight, labor, and overhead to elucidate over and under absorption.
  • Execute the Annual Cost Roll in NetSuite, encompassing transfer pricing for products bought by subsidiaries.
  • Review and close manufacturing work orders with discrepancies.
  • Monitor inventory adjustments for accuracy and root cause analysis to enhance processes.
  • Understand and analyze products' bill of materials for new product development in collaboration with the engineering team.
  • Reconcile inventory and related balance sheet accounts and manage Excess & Obsolete Reserve calculations.
  • Explain cost and manufacturing variances.
  • Oversee month-end close activities in cost accounting, including work order variances, inventory account reconciliation, in-transit and intercompany profit on inventory.
  • Collaborate with engineering on new product bill of materials.
  • Continually and accurately provides analysis of cost of sales and gross margin.
  • Manage inventory valuation, including freight, duties, labor and burden costs.
  • Set transfer pricing for all subsidiaries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide cost-related insights for business decisions.
  • Assist in long-term planning and short-range forecasting.
  • Assist with the external audit, tax and other external party requests.
  • Document processes.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, including creating and modifying records using formulas, macros, pivot tables, and tables.
  • Adaptability to new systems, preferably NetSuite.
  • Capable of generating reports and queries from systems.
  • Familiarity with intercompany accounting, foreign currencies, tariff & duty transactions, and ERP data.
  • Maintain internal control documentation and test controls.
  • Contribute to special projects as required.
  • Support internal department reporting needs.
  • Provide assistance to the team as necessary.
  • Adhere to safety, HR, and quality department policies.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills; Spanish proficiency highly preferred.
  • Support the team when needed.
  • Follows all policies and procedures of Occupational Safety and Health, Human Resources and Quality Department. Reports any safety deficiency to immediate supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
