We are hiring a full-time, temporary Analyst, Cost Control (for up to 14 months) position working out of Edmonton, AB!

The Analyst, Cost Control will support the Capital Governance and Reporting (CGR) team by working with EPCOR Water Services (EWS) construction Project Managers, the Project Management Office, Capital Finance, and the Capital Steering Committee. Responsibilities include project accounting training, project reporting, Oracle Projects training, and participation in capital steering and project meetings.
What you'd be responsible for
Maintain EWS construction capital projects information systems (Oracle E-Business and Workday Adaptive or equivalent enterprise resource planning software, advanced Microsoft Excel workbooks, Power BI, SharePoint, other asset and work management applications).
Maintain construction project cost performance data, including expenditure, forecasting and budget history.
Analyze the monthly and quarterly project variance and forecast reports for review by leadership and project management groups; organize information for review at the monthly construction Capital Steering Committee.
Understand construction project earned value, analyze and report performance monthly, including year-end forecasts and forecasts at completion, at both the construction project and portfolio level.
Track and manage external contributions, grant funding and other project accounting cash flow streams.
Provide data analytics support for decision-making at the project, program and portfolio levels; create, review and maintain Power BI reports
Ensure data integrity through database design and maintenance.
Understand and apply company policies related to capital investment and capitalization.
Prepare reports and presentations for project management and leadership teams as required.
Maintain consistent construction project account reporting templates, forms and standards.
Provide support and training to stakeholders in using reporting templates and forms to support long-term planning.
Maintain collaborative and supportive relationships with interfacing EWS departments and groups including, but not limited to:
  • Project Management Office and individual project and program managers
  • Capital and Operational Finance
  • Regulatory
  • Application Services

Ensure an appropriate understanding of capitalization policies and communicate potential issues in application to Capital Finance for review and assessment.
What's required to be successful
Completed diploma or degree in business operations management, management accounting or a related field.
Minimum 7 years of related experience in project accounting, management accounting and/or construction project portfolio financial performance management.
A minimum of 5 years in a Project Management Office or Capital Governance role is preferred.
Experience in database design and maintenance, specifically with Power BI, would be preferred.
Understanding of and experience with the project management body of knowledge.
A minimum of 5 years' experience in analyzing technical information and making timely, well rationalized decisions would be considered an asset.
Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, advanced Excel, Power BI and SharePoint)
Strong familiarity with Oracle Projects or similar ERP system project management modules.
Strong communication and presentation skills; attention to detail
Ability to work independently and within a team

Wage: Starting at $51.89 per hour (Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and are subject to change based on ratification of the new collective agreement.)

Hours of work: 80 hours biweekly
