Overview
The position requires at least seven years of Government / Aerospace Industry experience. Three years experience credit for a Bachelors degree or four years credit for a relevant Masters degree in Business Management, Economics, Math, Engineering, or Economics.
Responsibilities
- The applicant will be responsible for developing and delivering Life Cycle Cost (LCC) estimates for NASA aircraft projects contemplating advanced technologies in materials, aerodynamics, and propulsion systems.
- Applicant should have a thorough understanding of cost estimating and systems engineering.
- Applicant will be responsible for creating, documenting, and presenting cost estimates using PTIRS, Excel, and other software tools as well as testing and validating integration of new/enhanced estimating models.
- The applicant may be required to work with higher level NASA officials and communicate with prime contractor personnel.
Skills Required
- The position requires a minimum of seven years of Government / Aerospace Industry in one of the following areas:
- Cost Estimating / Cost Engineering, Operations Research, or Systems Engineering.
- Possess at least seven years of relevant experience supporting Aircraft Programs primarily in support of NASA
- Experience with aircraft cost estimating and software coding required.
- Familiarity with model-based systems engineering and analysis (MBSA&E), direct operating costs plus interest (DOC+I), the Probabilistic Technology Investment Ranking System (PTIRS) tool, and advanced airframe concepts is necessary for the position.
- Applicant should be proficient in the use of M/S office applications (i.e., M/S Project, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- PTIRS, VS Code, Python, OpenMDAO, GitHub, Linux systems, and Power BI.
- Excellent verbal communication, written, and quantitative analytical skills are required.
- Applicant must be proficient in performing aircraft cost estimating activities such as cost/price analysis, WBS development, and risk analysis.
- Familiarity of cost estimating principles/NASA acquisition policies and NASA project management process are desirable.
- Additionally, a strong working knowledge of Automated Cost Estimating Integrated Tools (ACEIT) is highly desirable.
- Data Science experience is a plus.
- Applicant must be able to work in a team environment.
- Applicant must be able to obtain a security clearance.
Education
Bachelors degree required, preferably in math, engineering, business, or the sciences.
