Job Summary
Acts aslegal advisor to the Clerk of the House specializing in legal matters,administration, procedures, policy and planning matters affecting the Office ofthe Clerk. Provides expert counsel on a variety of highly complex policy andorganizational matters, while researching, writing and preparing documents forthe office. Responsible for writing congressional testimony, to be submittedbefore various Committees, while serving as liaison to the Capitol PreservationCommission on behalf of the Clerk of the House. Partners with staff of Houseand Senate Officers on issues of shared responsibility.

Qualifications
Temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in atactful, pleasant and professional manner. Ability to communicate clearly andconcisely both orally and in writing. Knowledge of office policies, practicesand procedures as well as current laws and requirements relating to the Officeof the Clerk. Must have proven legal research, strong organizational, writtenand oral communication skills. Must have prior Congressional experience and theability to work effectively under pressure and maintain poise and courtesy indealing with Members and staff. Must have a law degree and be a member in goodstanding of the bar of the highest court of any state. Extensive knowledge ofconstitutional and administrative laws. Minimum of five years of practicallegal legislative experience. Must have strong academic credentials, good legalresearch, writing, and excellent communication skills. Must have an analytical mind and be detailoriented. This position is identified asa Test Designated Position and is subject to random drug testing. This positionalso requires a Security Clearance; therefore, your ability to secure andmaintain such a Clearance is a continued condition of employment.
