Loudoun County Department of Family Services seeks a dedicated, professional candidate for its CPS In-home Supervisor role. The successful candidate will join the Child Protective Services program and the diverse department that envisions better health, safety, and well-being for all. Job Summary
This pivotal supervisory role is instrumental in directing, managing, and supporting the work of the CPS In-Home (In-Home) Team. Together with the CPS Intake and CPS Investigations and Assessments Teams, the specialists strive to significantly enhance the quality of life for families.
The In-Home Specialists, guided by strengths-based and trauma-informed perspectives, and evidence-based practices, work intensively to stabilize and support families facing high and moderately high risk factors that contribute to child abuse and neglect. Their efforts focus on increasing safety and protective capacities and reducing the risk of future harm through comprehensive risk, safety, needs, and strengths assessments.
As a supervisor, the incumbent will play a crucial role in supporting the Specialists in engaging families to devise their goal-directed service plans, referring to community services as indicated, and monitoring and evaluating purchased services. The incumbent's periodic program reviews will ensure strict adherence to all local, state, and federal mandates, policies, and regulations designed to keep families safe and together where possible, further underlining the importance of the incumbent's role in this mission.
This position demands effective leadership and meticulous oversight of the Child Protective Services In-Home Services program. The incumbent will join a collaborative peer supervisory team guided by a program manager, and their role will be crucial in ensuring the program's success.
This work is multifaceted, as outlined in its core responsibilities:
Successful candidates must be available for duty beyond the typical workday, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays, as required to perform the functions of the position. This position is considered essential personnel and will require you to report to work during times designated countywide as approved for unscheduled leave regardless of the emergency (e.g., weather, transportation, disaster). They may also be required to work from and may be assigned to an alternate worksite(s) within the County to perform duties that support operational needs. However, we also offer (specific flexible work arrangements) to support work-life balance.
The hiring salary will be commensurate with experience, and the position is eligible for a $3,000 hiring bonus under the County's Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required, with major coursework in a Human Services field preferred; AND, four (4) years of directly related experience in a human services area to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.

- Supervising the CPS In-Home Specialist staff that supports families where child abuse or neglect remains a risk during regular business hours, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, on a scheduled rotation, or as assigned using strength-based and trauma-informed perspectives.
- Ensuring an appropriate and timely response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to emergencies, high risk, and life-threatening situations involving children youth and their families and youth, making a significant difference in the lives of those in need.
- Ensuring adherence to all local, state, and federal policies, procedures, and regulations for investigations, assessments, and record keeping.
- Reviewing documentation and electronic records for accuracy, adherence to all policies and procedures, clarity, and completeness.
- Collaborating with agency partners to identify and address service gaps.
- Developing community resources and services.
- Managing contracts for community services.
- Approving and monitoring the budget for purchased client services.
- Conducting informal staff quarterly reviews and performance appraisals annually; addressing performance issues promptly.
- Recruiting, hiring, and training new staff.
- Addressing client/customer/consumer complaints and concerns promptly.
- Analyzing and evaluating program success.
- Providing community and programmatic crisis intervention and emergency responses as directed.
- Completing special projects as assigned.

- Bi-lingual English and Spanish speaking abilities.
