The Scarsdale Union Free School District is seeking candidates for a probationary CPSE/CSE Chairperson position for the 2024-2025 school year. This is a full time 10-month position which includes a highly competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Valid NYS Certification (Special Education, Students with Disabilities Speech and Language Disabilities, or School Psychologist) is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
- At least three to five years of successful work experience in a school district setting, preferable as a CPSE/CSE Chairperson
- Thorough understanding of CPSE/CSE guidelines and regulations as related to Special Education services
- Extensive knowledge of psychological and educational testing and evaluations;
- Ability ot problem solve and work effectively with facilities and various agencies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (oral, written and digital)
- Bilingual (fluent in Spanish)
Duties
- Implement and maintain procedures relevant to the CPSE/CSE process;
- Ensure that all students referred to the CPSE/CSE receive the necessary evaluations;
- Work cooperatively with parens, preschools, agencies and the District to coordinate programs and services as a result of CPSE/CSE and Early intervention meetings;
- Chair CPSE/CSE meetings and complete IEPs;
- Works cooperative with the school staff to place students in appropriate educational programs;
- Stay appraised of all NYS laws and regulations pertaining to special education services for school age students.
Equipment
- Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements
- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
- Knowledge of Special Education principles, theories, testing, methods, etc. as well as proven methods of maximizing the educational experience of students with special needs.
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans. - Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

- Works in standard office and school building environments.
Qualifications Profile
- Certification/License: New York State Certification as a Special Education Teacher.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education:
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- Masters Degree in Special Education.
Experience:
