Overview

The Credit Diligence Specialist is responsible for reviewing and evaluating credit underwriting compliance with all agency and internal company guidelines on post-purchase correspondent loans. This role ensures that purchased loans meet investor and regulatory standards, minimizing risk exposure and supporting overall loan quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in credit analysis, risk management, and financial due diligence, ensuring loan decisioning aligns with company policies and regulatory requirements. Interaction on various platforms with multiple levels within the organization and external partners is critical. This fully remote role offers a competitive pay range of $40.87 to $45.67 per hour, an annual bonus, medical benefits starting on day one, and a company-matched 401(k). Candidates located near our Horsham, PA office are encouraged to adopt a hybrid work schedule. This schedule involves working remotely on Mondays and Fridays, with in-office work on the remaining weekdays.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive post-purchase loan reviews to ensure compliance with credit policy, underwriting standards, and investor guidelines.
  • Verify loan file accuracy and completeness, ensuring adherence to company and agency credit guidelines.
  • Conduct credit and underwriting analysis by reviewing credit reports, income documentation, assets, liabilities, property appraisals, and title reports to ensure compliance with company and investor guidelines.
  • Evaluate key loan metrics, including debt-to-income ratio, loan-to-value ratio, credit scores, and collateral valuation, ensuring compliance with established criteria.
  • Identify and document credit, compliance, and documentation deficiencies, applying appropriate suspense actions when necessary.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, auditors, and internal departments, to resolve discrepancies and provide clarification on underwriting decisions.
  • Clearly communicate loan decisions, risk assessments, and underwriting guidelines to clients and internal partners.
  • Utilize internal reporting tools to analyze portfolio risk and assess client underwriting practices.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to enhance credit diligence processes and mitigate risk.
  • Contribute to quality assurance reporting by delivering accurate feedback on client performance and risk trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field preferred (equivalent work experience will be considered)
  • 5+ years of mortgage lending experience, with at least 3+ years in mortgage underwriting and post-purchase loan reviews
  • In-depth knowledge of mortgage lending guidelines, regulatory requirements, and investor standards (e.g., FHA, VA, FNMA, FHLMC)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate findings to various stakeholders
  • Ability to interpret credit reports, income documents, appraisals, and loan files with accuracy
  • Industry certifications (e.g., DE, SAR, LAPP) a plus
