Job Title: CT Technologist
Job Specialty: Computed Tomography (CT)
Job Duration: 14 weeks
Shift: Day 5x8 Hr
Guaranteed Hours: 40.00 hrs/week
Experience: Minimum of one year in CT
License: State licensure required
Certifications: ARRT registered technologist, Basic Life Support (BLS) certified for healthcare providers
Must-Have: ARRT registration
Job Description:
- Responsible for performing high-quality CT procedures.
- Perform a variety of CT procedures with ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgment.
- Use ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
- Ensure proper patient identification, order verification, and preparation for exams.
- Perform exams according to department protocol.
- Understand cross-sectional anatomy and demonstrate anatomical positioning competency.
- Familiar with radiation safety protocols and the ALARA program.
- Exhibit the ability to critique own films.
- Complete studies within acceptable time limitations without compromising patient care or quality.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of protocol relating to contrast administration.
- Under physician supervision, administer oral barium products or intravenous contrast material to patients as ordered.
- Practice appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.
- Provide patient education and assure patient comfort.
- Operate all CT equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images.
- Have a working knowledge of contrast injectors and laser printers.
- Demonstrate proficiency with electronic imaging, including viewing, transferring, and manipulating images.
- Accurately complete all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.
- Follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, and charging; obtain consents when necessary; document any events for quality; maintain a current quality control program; report equipment failures or problems.
