Job Title: CT Technologist
Job Specialty: Computed Tomography (CT)
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour night shift, 6:45 PM - 6:45 AM, alternating weekends
Guaranteed Hours: 40
Experience: Minimum of one year of related experience
License: Licensed Radiology Technologist in state of employment
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- ARRT(CT), ARRT(N), ARRT(T), or CNMT registry, or State CT registry
- ARRT(R) with CT training
Must-Have:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate Degree preferred, Bachelor's Degree preferred
Job Description:
- Provide quality patient care within the medical imaging department
- Perform high-quality images and exams while maintaining sensitivity to patient needs
- Follow standards of safe radiation practice to reduce exposure to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA)
- Demonstrate leadership abilities and act as a role model for associate technologists
- Serve as a clinical resource to unit personnel and ensure current standards of practice
- Produce quality images in a complete, accurate, and timely manner
- Prepare patients for exams and provide information and instruction regarding the procedure
- Assist patients during exams, ensuring proper positioning, and respond to their physical and emotional needs
- Facilitate smooth patient flow, scheduling, and optimal use of equipment/resources
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with physicians, imaging personnel, students, and hospital staff
- Assist with patient transport as needed
- Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required
- Perform technologist duties of other registered modalities as assigned by management
- Provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours as needed
- Input charges and required data for procedures and supplies accurately
- Complete required hospital/medical imaging paperwork for each exam
- Maintain technical operation of equipment and notify service when necessary
- Maintain clean work area for employees and patients
- Proactively identify and resolve problems, following up with appropriate management personnel
- Establish constructive rapport with physicians, staff, and system departments
- Continually enhance skills through education and meeting attendance and share information with staff
- Participate in clinical training for students and new staff technologists
- Engage in professional activities through involvement in organizations, journal clubs, online education, etc.
- Actively participate in quality and process improvement initiatives
- Maintain compliance with all State, Federal, accreditation, and hospital regulations and standards
- Contribute to accreditation as requested
- Demonstrate effective time management and prioritize workload to meet productivity requirements
- Adapt to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, census, and staffing needs through priority setting and flexibility
