Position Description

Cyber Policy Scholar & Cybersecurity Clinic Manager

Applications for the Spelman College Computer and Information Sciences Department Cyber Policy Scholar/Cybersecurity Clinic Manager are sought from exceptional individuals who, through their record of scholarship, teaching, mentoring, industry practice, service, as well as their skills, experiences, and areas of scholarship, can substantially advance Cyber, Security, and Technology Policy innovation at Spelman College.

This role is partially funded by the Hewlett Foundation and Google.org. A major advancement in this academic year is the new Cybersecurity Clinic funded by Google.org. The objective of the Spelman SPEAR Cybersecurity Clinic is to prepare the next generation of cyber, security, and policy experts by providing students with real-world experiences, opportunities to obtain various cybersecurity certifications, and access to employment opportunities. The Cybersecurity SPEAR Clinic Manager will work with the Cybersecurity Clinic Lead Director and the Director of Cyber Security and IT Compliance to prepare and develop students who will serve as staff in the clinic.

Clients will be protected by the Spelman SPEAR of services:
Security Plan - development of a comprehensive plan to define protections needed and identify the goals, policies, and mechanisms to deliver them
Education - training for students and clients
Assessment for compliance based on specific industry standards
Remediation - interpretation of assessments

ROLE EXPECTATIONS
Serve in a full-time, 12-month, multi-year, salaried position. The Scholar is required to be in residence and on campus daily to fully engage with students, faculty, and the community.
Attend department and Spelman-wide seminars/colloquia and events and be an active and visible member of the Spelman faculty community.
Deliver some combination of special topics/research courses, lectures and interdisciplinary workshops to share his/her expertise with students, faculty, and the public.
Serve as an undergraduate research mentor for up to four students.
Serve as the first point of contact for the Cybersecurity Clinic, addressing general inquiries from students, faculty, staff, strategic partners, and the community
Serve as the first point of contact for the Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics (CCC), attending meetings, ensuring adherence to deadlines, and managing relationships with other CCC members
Manage the relationship and scheduling with the Google.org mentor
Manage the process for development of the new Cybersecurity Clinic curriculum
Cultivate Cybersecurity Clinic client relationships and identify potential clients
Provide frequent updates to the Lead Director on any programs or projects under her/his charge.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

All applicants for the Cyber Policy Scholar/Cyber Clinic Manager must:
Have earned a PhD or be a renowned cyber scholar or well-established industry practitioner; and
Be currently authorized to work in the United States. No sponsorship is available for this position.
