Overview

Experience as an Information System Security Manager or Officer (ISSM/ISSO) desired. Applicant must have experience briefing senior leadership and be comfortable working with many stakeholders in an integrated environment. Working knowledge of DoD 5000 series desired. Professional certifications for System Security Engineer/ Cybersecurity Engineer or cybersecurity certifications that meet DoD 8570.01-M with 10+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Coordinate with lead engineer to determine the authorization boundary and information types
  • Provide advice in describing the system and its functions, information types, operating environments, and security requirements
  • Conduct system-level security risk assessments
  • Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the system by assisting the lead engineer or prime contractor in designing and implementing a secure system
  • Support lead engineer or prime contractor in selecting/reviewing controls for the system
  • Review the adequacy of the controls and their ability to protect the system and its information
  • Assist in the determination of an appropriate level of security commensurate with the impact level
  • Advise the lead engineer or prime contractor regarding security requirements
  • Develop and coordinate government Program Protection Plan
  • Review prime contractor Program Protection Implementation Plan for adequacy and alignment with government Program Protection Plan
  • Review the government and prime contractor assessment plans to coordinate assessment activities
  • Coordinate government and prime contractor security assessment activities
  • Review and analyze security assessment reports
  • Support the lead engineer to complete security responsibilities
  • Provide advice on the continuous monitoring of the system
  • Provide advice on the impacts of system changes to the security posture of the system
  • Participate in any acquisition/development activities that are required to implement a system change

Skills Required

  • This position is for a person with experience as a System Security Engineer or Cybersecurity Engineer for Department of Defense programs.
  • This position requires a working knowledge of DoD Instruction 8510.01 Risk Management Framework for DoD Systems, development of Program Protection Plan.
  • Development of Cybersecurity Strategy and working knowledge of and experience in obtaining cyber security related certifications, including Authority to Operate (ATO) and Authority to Connect (ATC).
  • As it relates to these primary skills additional supporting experience includes:
  • Designing, building, integrating, testing, and maintaining network and computing infrastructure
  • Analyzing alternatives
  • Validating system performance for the fielding of new/modified DoD weapons systems.
  • Applicant should be proficient in the use of M/S office applications, i.e., M/S Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access.
  • Excellent verbal communication, written, and quantitative analytical skills are required.

Education

Bachelors degree preferred, preferably in management information systems, math or engineering. Additional degrees or certifications may substitute for years of experience.
