Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) is seeking our first ever Data Analyst. The Library Data Analyst will synthesize and analyze disparate data sets, creating insightful reports to help WCCLS and libraries make data-informed and outcome-focused decisions that promote more equitable access to public library services in our county. The Library Data Analyst will lay the systemic and technical groundwork needed to:
  • Analyze large amounts of data, detecting trends and providing recommendations and solutions that will enable WCCLS to increase efficiency, identify opportunities, tell the story of our impact, and improve overall business performance.
  • Implement evaluation frameworks, data collection, and analysis strategies for WCCLS programs and services.
  • Communicate the value of public libraries in the county with data that is visually compelling and easy to understand.
  • Operationalize the creation and delivery of standard reports, custom reports, and dashboards.

Public library service in Washington County is delivered by a partnership between WCCLS, nine (9) cities, and three (3) nonprofit agencies. WCCLS is the primary funding source for public libraries in the county and provides critical infrastructure and support services to link independently operated libraries together into one system for the community. WCCLS' annual operating budget is approximately $40 million, of which $28 million is funding allocated for public library operations. You create systems and processes to improve outcomes and increase equity of access, and you thrive working collaboratively with internal teams and external organizations.

As the Library Data Analyst, on any given day you may find yourself:
  • Working with stakeholders to build out visual dashboards to support reporting needs.
  • Leading an internal team at WCCLS to submit our Oregon Public Library Statistical Report and collate data for libraries to do the same.
  • Meeting with the WCCLS Leadership Team to identify opportunities to bring data analysis to bear on decision-making.
  • Evaluating current data collection processes and prospects across teams.
  • Creating efficiencies in data gathering and reporting via automation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Math, Computer Science, Statistics, Sociology, or a related analytic degree. AND
  • Two (2) years of work experience in programming or a related field that included performing analysis, statistical evaluation, database design, maintenance, and administration, and statistical reporting.
